Gadir is awesome - did anyone get that it uses the theme 'Circus Parade' from Miklos Rozsa's fantastic score for the movie 'Ben Hur'? Dark Moor really know how to use orchestral music and blend it with their metal soundscape. Thumbs up.

Nice to know! Odd by very good album

I LOVE Love From The Stone... just this song alone makes this album a worthy buy. Also Tilt At Windmills followed by Cancion Del Pirata. This album is not as good as Tarrot or even the last but just those three songs alone to me, are perfect. I Hope they can do better eventually.

Oh, from wikipedia

"Canción del Pirata" means "Song of the Pirate" in Spanish and is based in a poem written by José de Espronceda.
"Ah! Wretched Me " is based on the "Life is a Dream" by Calderon de la Barca
"Tilt at Windmills" is based on Don Quixote de La Mancha
"Mio Cid " is inspired by the legend of the Spanish hero El Cid,
"Alaric de Marnac" is an adaptation of Paul Naschy's latest book of the same title
"Love from Stone" tells of the legend of the lovers of Teruel
"Gadir" is inspired by the first city founded in Europe: Cádiz
*"Ritual Fire Dance"is based on "Danza del Fuego" by Manuel de Falla, Spanish composer

Well, i must say that this album has been a big surprise for me, especially because what has surprised me most here is the voice that has the singer on this record, this guy has improved a lot, and i think he can improve still more if he proposes it. I like a lot the first four songs (maybe the best part of the record), i like also "Canción del pirata" (great!), "Ritual Fire Dance" and "Ah! Wretched Me", but my favorite song is Mio Cid!!, "Gadir" is very strong too.

In conclusion, a very solid album, in my oppinion the best after "The Gates Of Oblivion" (the best of them... for the moment... hehe).

I completely agree with you on this! Dark Moor definitely has two different eras, the Elisa / Power metal era, followed by the new singer's Era which is more symphonic. While "Gates" is surely a power metal classic and Elisa's vocals a force of their own, I honestly really like the new Dark Moor. Tarot, Autumnal, and now Ancestral Romance are ALL phenomenal!

Hey dude, yes, with the new singer they are slowly becoming more and more symphonic (a matter of taste ) and this latest album is no exception and they have created another good album of Neo-classical/Symphonic/Power Metal. About "Gates" yes, i agree with you, i find this record how one of the best records of all time within the genre of power metal.

By the way, i have seen that you are from Japan =) , "Ancestral Romance" has had a leading critic in the November edition with a score of 91/100 in the prestigious japanese magazine Burrn!

Just hearing some classic elements of the band and some news (Just Rock and A Music In My Soul, this last one being PURELY EPIC BUT NOT POWER-ISH), makes this album a must-have for any Power Metal and Symphonic Metal fan and fanboy (just like myself )

I agree! In my opinion Tarot, Autumnal, and Ancestral Romance are their best albums to date. Not trying to knock any of their other great albums of course.

It's refreshing to hear a south European metal band writing songs about things relevant to their own culture. Makes a blessed difference from the flood of high fantasy guff the Italian power scene churns out year after year.
