Three long years since Iowa? And now the nine madmen are back !
At the first listening, I found this album somewhat strange, with songs more akin to those written for Stonesour (Duality, the first single). The violence is still there, but? And then I listened it again. And yes, Slipknot are back, and they definitively kick ass !

Uh, I'd say you're against yourself considering you gave their latest a higher rating than this one.

The first album i ever listened to by slipknot, this really amazed me originally. There is a lot of variation on here, including a few 'ballads' (although a few too many for my liking). However, the band keeps their insanity and anger intact as on previous records, and the brutality of 'The Blister exists' and 'Duality' always leave me speechless. I should have liked the album to be a bit shorter, as filler tracks there are ('Circle' and 'Vermilion Pt.2' specifically), but on the whole 'Vol.3...' is a good example of how far slipknot are willing to push the boundaries and silence the doubters.

When i have to choose one Nu Metal band, it would be Slipknot. I think this is their best album and it has some really good tunes in it.

This band should be blacklisted!

You first, poseur.

Well, posers aren't the reason for me saying that.

You dismiss and bash (directly or indirectly) a band and question its metal credibility despite that is obviously metal, ergo you are a poseur and clueless to what establishes a band as metal.
Slipknot are nu metal, which is in fact metal, no matter how much you bitch and moan. Shame on you for doing so.

Well, i didn't bitch or moan you are the one who is doing that right now. I was just stating my opinion.

Oh, but I'm also merely "stating my opinion," the difference being my opinion is valid and true unlike yours.

I don't blame you guys who consider Korn and Disturbed as metal bands there's no wonder that you consider Slipknot as metal too. I don't mind if you listen to them but don't classify them under "Metal" category. Specially when the name of the site is "Metal Storm".

Nice job contradicting your own opinion, idiot. They're on Metalstorm, that must mean
they're metal.
BTW check the Metal Archives and tell me if you find those bands there..

...And you just dug yourself deeper into your hole.

Since you're obviously new to metal, I'll just come out and tell you the common knowledge: Compared to Metalstorm, Metal Archives' creditbility as a metal "encyclopedia" is nil. They're a bunch of elitist poseurs bound in a tight little circle where they thrive on "metalness."
You know who else isn't on that site?
Led Zeppelin, Between The Buried and Me, Tool, Hatebreed, Converge, Dir en Grey, Deep Purple, Periphery, Tesseract, Fields of the Nephilim, Rosetta, KMFDM, Whitesnake, a number of grindcore bands and virtually no glam metal bands (sans Motley Crue).
Reducing your argument to crediting that poor excuse of a site is a desperate and embarrassing move.

But I guess it figures you'd enjoy being on that site since it's more suited to your tastes (or lack thereof.)

-OMG your way to argue is funny, anyway, I'm not new to metal and i'm not interested in arguing in that. But saying that proves that you are mad.
-"Metal Archives' creditbility as a metal "encyclopedia" is nil." according to whom? .. I'm not belittling this site i like MS so much, but sometimes MA has proper tags or more accurate than MS. And i'm not mad because Slipknot is not blacklisted they said there are some exceptions and i think Slipknot is one of them.
-The last thing is that i'm not interested in such arguments, specially with people like you who think they're right and everyone who disagrees with them are wrong, it makes me feel like i'm talking to a wall.

It's mad how I never really thought much of Nu metal, during it's prime era, and never really got into Slipknot, but now I have actually developed a slight soft spot for them (this album anyway). I think it's the nostalgia, and fond memories from that time, rather than the music itself.

As for this album, I must say it's one of their best, it shows a degree of maturity in Slipknot's songwriting, and contains some of their greatest songs, in particular "Duality", "Vermilion" and "Before I Forget". The album starts off well, but unfortunately the album finishes nowhere near as good as it's beginning. There are too many average songs that outnumber the quality one's imo.
