Nope, not melodic death (IMO).

So glad I finally discovered this. That incredibly lame artwork made me suspish, but I'm glad I was proven wrong.

I like this album a whole lot, thanks to the peeps who got this up to 20 votes. MDM is definitely there and keeps it catchy and accessible, "A New Dawn" is pretty similar at times to Insomnium's "Weighed Down with Sorrow." Actually, a lot of this album reminds me of Insomnium, little bit of Enshine, some battle elements with a black metal backbone. That hardly encapsulates it as a lot of subgenres are woven throughout.

Bought it after the first song. I agree with chomskeet. Difficult to categorize, atmospheric yes, progressive yes, melodic death yes, but I can't find much black in here.

I honestly hope that becomes more commonplace - every album like this gets me excited when i first listen to it because I never know where the sound is gonna go.

Hands down the best new music I've found in years. The first three songs prove that 90's Gothenburg melodic death can still be made and still rules. Their melodies and drumming are so exquisite! The instrumentals rock as well.

Getting some definite early Dissection vibes from this. Sounds really good so far!

One of the best albums I've heard in ages. The band name is such a mess I'll probably never be able to remember or spell it right.

A front-loaded album. Listen to the last 6 songs with lower expectations than the first 3.

I was trying to find some good atmosphere black metal, and got this album.
The first song is really attractive. But not all the songs are on the same level, even not all black.
And the biggest problem is the band’s name is really hard to spell.

Yeah I would say there's a hint of atmospheric black metal at times, but for me it's mostly melodic black metal, their next album Transience is more progressive, but I much prefer this debut tbh.

It's a lot more black than it's death.

As soon as I'd read he'd recently released the third part of a trilogy, I decided to listen from the beginning.
First impressions are very positive...

In the end I found this a struggle to enjoy beyond a background easy listening level.
It was too grandiose and symphonic for my taste. I really could do without the heavy use of keyboard strings and choral effect in that last track especially.
