If we get another Pelagial, I don't mind waiting 5 years.

This will apparently be titled Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic. New song just dropped on Spotify for my timezone.

Pelagial was brilliant, and somehow the first two tracks I've heard off of this one sound like it could be even better.

They released a third track too, if you are interested.

Ok so they literally started where Precambrian left off huh?
Liking it a lot, sadly the rest of the album doesn't live up to the pre-released tracks (that intro track might be one of my favourite intro tracks ever though, shivers down my spine). But I guess it's nto a big deal, since there aren't that many tracks.

But it's post metal with a proggy edge so I need more listens

Harder to swallow than the previous one which was full of melodies and variation and even sounded like Cult of Luna in some parts.
The clean vocals sound much better this time and the last track is just epicness that'll give you goosebumps. But most of the time the album is some random prog riffing that leads nowhere and is forgotten after the song ends. I am very happy that there are still bands that play some good post-metal, but this album is nothing that makes me think "Wow this is the revelation I waited my whole live for".

Still have to check the whole album out, but the couple of songs I've heard so far sounded promising. Seems like most people are enjoying this record. Every score given so far on the site is a 7 or higher (well expect for the two 1's it received for some reason...) so this should be a fun listen.

Haven't listened to a lot of post-metal so far this year, time to fix that.

Have listened to all 5 of them. The ones that stood out for me were Ingrina and Hæster. The other 3 are also really solid records imo. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Excellent list from tea[m]ster.

So two month after release I raised my raiting to a 9 because for what this album lacks in proginess and variety it makes up for in atmosphere and emotions. It sounds so sad and dark and just sucks me in every listen. In some parts it is a step backwards, to a more simplistic sound, but to be honest Pelagial sounded phenomenal but triggered practically nothing in me.

I am absolutely in love with the concept, and the songs can get really really good (especially Devonian), but I'm starting to think post-metal might not quite be my thing

I agree with your pick for the follow-up (Jurassic | Cretaceous, then again, who wouldn't) but I don't think Permian is that amazing. It's a great song, but I prefer Cambrian and Devonian.

100% agreed. I have come back to this particular song very often since the album came out and especially lately. Also, what an intense ending to a record. For sure one of my favorite songs of the last couple of years. (Also, how is this 5 years old already...)
