Biography

Furious Trauma was formed back in 1988, in Copenhagen-Denmark, by Klaus B. Hansen a.k.a. Hyr and Lars Schmidt. Hyr and Lars had just left Danish thrash outfit Battalion and teamed up with Morten Stytzer and Artillery.
Hyr and Lars were huge fans of Artillery, and considered it an honour and a privilege to be offered the opportunity to be a part of the legendary Artillery.Being just hired hands were not exactly the right thing for Hyr and Lars, so they split to start their own project, which was to become FURIOUS TRAUMA.

Hyr and Lars hooked up with Artillery drummer, Henrik Quade and the only 14 years old guitarist, Morten Gilsted(later Illdisposed) and made their first demo "Tempora Mutantur", with Pap(Motorhead drum tech R.I.P.) and Andre Andersen(Royal Hunt)behind the desk.
Inspired by the likes of Artillery, Slayer, Metallica and Exodus, FT developed their own style and defined it as THC thrashing metal.
Right after the release of "Tempora Mutantur", Nicholas Hill stepped in on the bass and they went on the very first thrash metal tour in Denmark, "Slow Death Factory Tour", October '88, joined by Hellraiser (DK), Mental Decay (DK) and Swedish God BC. After the "Slow Death Factory Tour" FT did several gigs and opening for such bands as Artillery and Jingo de Lunch.

In 1990 FT released their second demo, "Profit Counts". Due to personal issues, Hyr was no longer in the band. Morten Gilsted and Nicholas Hill were replaced by Kaare S. Hansen (bass) and Samir Belmaati (guitar), while Lars took over the vocals. FT toured DK again, with gigs all over the country, and opening for Hell's Kitchen.

In 1992 FT welcomed Morten Gilsted back in the band, replacing Samir Belmaati, and went into the studio, recording their debut album "Primal Touch", which was released in 1992, with top notch reviews to follow. The album was produced by American producer Mr Eric Greif and Danish super guitarist Benny Petersen (Jackal).
With all the good credits in the press, FT was noticed by Rock On, DK's largest rock management and the boss himself, Mr John Rossing (R.I.P.) and signed a deal.
FT went on the longest heavy metal tour in DK history, playing more than 50 gigs. FT did a midnight gig at the world famous Roskilde Festival, green stage, and further more, opening for Motorhead, and Master.

In 1995 FT released their 2. Album "Eclipse". Brian Andersen had left the band due to family issues, and was replaced by Morten Nielsen (Mercyful Fate, Force Majeure) and unfortunately Morten Gilsted was history too. The space Morten Gilsted had left, was filled out by Lars Mayland (Timeless Hall).
FT toured DK again, Relentlessly and opening for act like Kreator, Entombed and Gorefest. In between the gigs they shot 2 videos for the tracks "Chaos Within" and "My Dying Time".
"Chaos Within" was shown on MTV's Headbangers Ball and presented by Oderus Urungus and Beefcake The Mighty of legendary Gwar.
Later the same year, FT was asked to do a Metallica cover version, to appear on a tribute to Metallica, FT chose to do "Trapped Under Ice" from the album "Ride The Lightning".
Further more FT did cover versions by Artillery ("The Challenge", feat. Flemming Rønsdorf on vocals), and Kiss("Strange Ways"). Both tracks, "The Challenge" and "Strange Ways" appeared on the EP, "Strange Ways", released in 1996. "Strange Ways" was the first ever-interactive CD-ROM to be released in the world, containing interview recorded during a total eclipse over Denmark in 1996. I t also contained the 2 videos "Chaos Within" and "My Dying Time" + the previously unreleased track "Way To Perfection".

In 1999 FT released their 3. Album, "Roll The Dice". With guest appearances by Andy La Rocque(King Diamond) and Michael Denner(Mercyful Fate), FT changed their style of playing, From uncompromising thrash metal to a much more rock'n'roll kind of metal. FT had signed a new deal with Season Of Mist and went on their first European tour. On this tour the public was introduced to a new dude in the "Roll The Dice" line-up. Unfortunately Kaare, who had been in the band, almost from the beginning, was no longer in charge of the bass. An old friend, now the new dude in the band, took over the bass, the notorious Claus Weiergang. With Claus on the bass, they toured again, now also abroad, crowning the touring with, once again, opening for Motorhead (Lemmy R.I.P.).

In 2003, FT was put on hold, for Lars to focus on the other band he was a part of, but in 2009 he was fed up with circumstances, and left for various reasons. A break was very much needed to recharge the batteries.
The break is over. Lars was getting restless and got his groove back and since 2012/2013 he started riffing again, playing around with ideas, to see if something was still there. Things began to evolve, and yes something was there. A little riff here and a little riff there, has now become 12 thrashing tracks of pumping pure energy. During this process, it was quiet obvious, get FT back on track, back in the rehearsal room and back in the studio to record the new stuff.
Time went by, in search of the right constellation, and in 2014/2015 the complete line-up was confirmed. The first to pledge his allegiance to the FT flag, was old time drummer, Brian Andersen ("Profit Counts", "Primal Touch"). Since he left FT, he has been the driving force in the Danish cover act Metallica Jam. The next to join FT, was suggested by Brian, Rene Loua, a mutual friend of Brian and Lars. Rene was one of the six string mutilators of Metallica Jam, a really talented guy. When he was asked to join the band, he didn't hesitate, and he was the perfect match.
The last piece of the puzzle turned out to be Swedish. The rumour had said, there is this Swedish dude, with the well-known Swedish qualities, who's playing the six strings with grace. He was contacted, given a demo with the new material for listening, and didn't hesitate to sign up for duty. His name is Daniel "Steely" Johansson.

In 2014/15, the debut album "Primal touch" was released on vinyl by Extreme Metal Vinyl and was sold out in no time, the album was also released as a special Russian edition, incl. the 2 demos "Tempora Mutantur" and "Profit Counts", on the Russian label GSProduction.

Now the calendar says 2017 and FURIOUS TRAUMA IS BACK TO THRASH!!!
