Biography
A classical pianist raised on 80’s thrash metal and has produced a musically schizophrenic hybrid of chaos and tranquility. Kyle has made a name for himself crafting a blend of classically-infused, video game inspired, Scandinavian metal that is led by shimmering, majestic piano. This aggressive twist backing a typically soft instrument has created a unique genre that can only be called: PIANOMETAL.
Combining modern technology with traditional composition, Kyle has created a genre of music that puts the focus on an often overlooked instrument within a chaotic setting. “The piano is such as diverse instrument. It is my life’s work to push it into unknown territory.” With the release of Lore of the Immortals in 2016, Kyle created the first ever Pianometal Concerto in three movements. After overwhelmingly positive reception and reviews, Kyle wasted no time in crafting the full length album that would truly define the iconic sound.
It was the 2017 release of Pianometal that completely solidified Kyle’s vision. A colossal 12 song album featuring 12 guest musicians from around the world that took the metal world by storm, earning multiple nominations for album of the year from various publications; an extraordinary feat for an instrumental album. From the brutality of “Hymn of Blasphemy” and “Eye of the Storm” to the power metal infused “The Road to Eternity” and “Orion’s Curse,” Pianometal reaches over the top for a massive cinematic experience.
Kyle has been a sponsored CASIO Artist since 2011 and endorses the Privia series. Kyle has previously fronted the metal outfits TRIPHON and SHATTERSPHERE as both the vocalist and keyboardist, releasing a total of five albums between 2004 and 2014. He is currently an active member of DEAD CITY CROWN and has released two albums with them from 2019-2020. He is also well known for his work with World Wrestling Entertainment singing the original version of the WWE/ECW theme “Don’t Question My Heart” in 2007, working directly alongside WWE composer Jim Johnston.
Kyle has worked with Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, Soilwork), Francesco Ferrini (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Elias Holmlid (Dragonland), Adrienne Cowan (Avantasia, Seven Spires, Winds of Plague), Sean Zatorsky (Sinsaenum, Chimaira, Daath), producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe), and many more notable musicians.
Kyle is currently the lead composer scoring the upcoming video game The Arcana Ritual Theater. He continues to push the boundaries of sound through various mediums as a session musician and composer, specializing in heavy metal and video games.
