Alternine began in 2005 in Rennes, France; formed by Julien Névo (bass) and Pierre-Antoine Picot (guitar). They were then joined by by Guillaume Durand (guitar) and Mathieu Roguez (drums). While searching for a singer, the quartet rehearsed relentlessly on a set-list entirely made of original songs. The arrival of Laetitia Jehanno in 2007 allowed the band to take off and reveal its musical potential.

Alternine play a style of alternative metal music that has been described as energetic, aerial, mysterious, but always melodic, original and inspired. As of 2008 the band have released a self-titled EP and are currently searching for a record label.
