2003-
Darkshines was founded at the beginning of 2003 in Kragujevac by Branislav Blagojevic and Ivan Ilic with a sole aim to contribute to the music scene with something yet unheard. They succeeded in this by the arrival of a young and perspective singer Jelena Savkovic. Another two members joined the band- Branko Stikovic (bass) and Vojin Ratkovic (drums) and the first album was created. The album had been recorded in the 'Renaissance' studio in Kragujevac for over a year. It was produced by Branislav Blagojevic and Nikola Bircarevic. What prevails on the album are tracks with gothic-progressive-thrash sound characterized by excellent production. It was first noted by PGP-RTS and Darkshines was given an opportunity to record the first album for the greatest recording company in the Balkans. The debut album 'WHERE' was released in Jun 2005 and the eight compositions easily appealed to a great number of listeners, especially the songs 'Let Me in Your Heart', 'One Day the Sun Will Die', with which the band was awarded the title of 'the most pleasant surprise' in 2005. The band performed on some of the most prominent concerts and festivals in Serbia such as the 'EXIT' festival (2006/2007), 'Metal Fest' in Kragujevac, 'Hard'n'Heavy' festival in Bela Crkva, 'Halloween Party' in Belgrade. Darkshines appeared in some of the best metal magazines in this area such as 'Butcherian Vibe','Metal Hammer','Nocturne'? There is an interesting anecdote related to the band regarding Zajecarska gitarijada in 2004. Namely, Darkshines was deprived of participation by the organizers due to belief that the recording they had sent wasn't theirs but of some foreign band, allegedly downloaded from the internet. This made the band even more confident and eager to continue with the hard work that was finally crowned with the release of the album. Darkshines finished the recording of the second album which is to be released in September. The recording was performed in a renowned studio 'Metal Design' in Kragujevac with a great and selfless help of Dobrica Andric Andra. It contains ten compositions characterized by great energy, melody and excellent vocal interpretations. It was produced by Branislav Blagojevic and Ivan ilic. In the meantime, the band gained two new members- Ratko Petrovic (bass) and Nevena Peric (vocal). You can find Darkshines on a compilation 'Vreme brutalnih dobrobamernika', where some of the best Serbian rock-metal bands composed for the lyrics of a poet from Belgrade Milan B. Popovic.
