I'm not big on the genre at all but they sound nothing like the other bands these days.

I agree... but just to some degree.
I actually see Smear Capaign as a bit of a comeback to the roots. Not radical... But at least it starts to sound more grindcore than death.

I would still call them Grindcore though... But that's a matter of taste imo.
