When disbanding in 2018, Textures left a significant hole in the global progressive metal community. With their do-it-yourself approach, the Dutch metal wizards did not only produce their albums themselves and took care of their own artwork, but also built multiple studios over the years to keep track with the band's progress. For nearly six years, Textures have disappeared after their farewell show. However recently, the six-piece confirmed their reactivation and return to the stages during the summer of 2024. New studio record is also in the making.

Finally, some news regarding Textures' new studio album or two rather. After a few years, the Dutch metal maniacs are about to release a musical diptych: Phenotype and Genotype. Two new albums set up around one concept. The sextet is not a band to put out an album every year in a row. The band took almost 2,5 years to write and record albums number five and six. Phenotype, the first album to be released on February 5th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast, is a song-based, 60-minute long album.

Another band is preparing a new album. This time around, it's Textures, who have officially entered the studio last week to record the follow up for their 2011 album Dualism, which will be released via Nuclear Blast Records. This will be the progressive metal band's first album with current guitarist Joe Tal, who completed the band as a six-piece again in 2013. The new album is expected to be released in early 2016. As long as it's good, right?

With their fifth album in the works, Textures will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album Polars this year and they are not missing the opportunity to do it with a bang. On this special occasion, the Dutch metallers will be playing an exclusive headline tour through Europe in October 2014, during which the band will be performing the debut album Polars in its entirety, supplemented with songs from their other albums.

Have you ever heard of Karmaflow? Maybe the gamers have. Karmaflow will be a unique 3D platform/puzzle adventure game featuring several rock/metal singers, a band and the famous Dutch Metropole Orchestra. The game is a project led by Ivo van Dijk, drummer and composer for Xystus who wrote the rock opera Equilibrio in 2008. Many well known metal singers are part of the cast for the game and soundtrack and the latest one to be announced is Daniel de Jongh, Textures' vocalist. The goal is to release the game next year for PC/Mac.

Textures has announced that Joe Tal is the new guitarist that will replace Jochem Jacobs who left the band earlier this year to pursue other dreams. Joe Tal will make his live debut on a select number of shows this summer and the band has already announced some dates.
