Mithras - Go Solo, New Song Online

Leon has posted a demo version of new track "Time Never Lasts" from the forthcoming fourth album online. That can be heard at this location.

He has also posted this message on the band's official forum:

As anyone who's heard the track might have noticed, and some people are already aware; in addition to playing guitar and drums, I'm also doing vocals and bass on this track. So here comes the next announcement: the next Mithras record is going to be me flying solo, playing all the instruments and doing vocals. This was in some ways a very hard decision to make, but in other ways an astoundingly easy one, which I think is going to work out for the best for me personally, and isn't really a reflection on anyone else. I was fortunate enough to have many viable options on this record as to who could perform on it (from live and ex-members) but after very careful consideration regarding practicalities and all the hard work which goes into a new record, not to mention much soul searching, I decided the best possible outcome for the record was for me to work alone.

Expounding on previous news announcements, Mithras live shows and any other musical projects are firmly off my agenda for the near future, so I can concentrate totally on the new record. Once the new record is in the can I'd like to play some shows and hopefully I can hook up with some of my comrades to do so.

Jon Oliva's Pain - Guitarist And Bassist Sitting Out Tour

Both Jon Oliva's Pain's bassist and guitarist won't appear on the band's upcoming European tour. The band issued the following statement:

"Due to personal obligations here at home, bassist Kevin Rothney (ex-Circle II Circle) and guitarist Tom McDyne will be unable to join us for this show and the upcoming tour. Everything possible was done to insure that they would be able to attend, and we will miss not having them with JOP for this tour. So, please welcome back Jerry Outlaw on guitar. Many will remember Jerry from JOP's past tours in support of our first release, Tage Mahal. Jerry is one of the most brilliant guitar players anywhere. His stellar tribute band to Frank Zappa (Bogus Pomp), is one of the most recognized Zappa bands in the world. Check him out for yourselves on the net.

Taking over bass duties for the tour is Tampa's phenom-bass player, Jason Gaines. With credits such as Basic Rock Outfit, and Groove Altar, he is one of the most sought after and busiest bass players around. We are grateful to find such a talent to round out the line-up for these shows.

Rehearsals are going great and we will be ready to bring the JOP/Savatage catalog to life in just a few days. See you at the State Theatre and on tour in Europe beginning September 28th in Berlin, Germany. Don't forget the live DVD filming at The 013 in Tilburg, Holland on October 15th!"

Aeon - Drummer Leaves The Band

Aeon guitarist Daniel Dlimi (Souldrainer) has announced the departure of drummer Nils Fjellström (who is also in Dark Funeral, In Battle and Sanctification) through the following message:

"Our drummer, Nils Fjellström has decided to leave the band on a very short notice. The reason for this is personal/private and Nils has chosen not to speak his mind out to the public about this. We will respect his wish not to do so, and therefore we will not reveal any details nor answering questions about this. As you may know, this is not the first time Nils is out of the band, but it's most certain the last. How strange this even may sound, i really think that we will be better off without him in the long run. We need a drummer who we can rely on at all times, someone who can be there for us when opportunities shows up etc. To take this band any further, we need a line-up where everyone has the same visions and goals.

At least this time around, there where no big tours planned like the last time Nils bailed out on us (in 2007, ed.). We only had one show planned ahead that was scheduled to take place october 16. We kindly asked Nils to do at least this show with us before he left, but he simply didn't agree to do so. This leaves us with no choice but to cancel our spot in this event. There is just to little time to rehearse a full headline set with a new session-drummer. Perhaps the promotor (Hårdrocksklubben) finds a new headliner for this evening or it will get canceled. Keep your eyes open on Hårdrocksklubben's website for further information about this event.

We will now be focusing on finding a worthy replacement for Nils and until we do, we will try to fill the spot temporarily with session-drummers.

This statement will also serve as an launch for a new drummer. If you are a drummer and thinks that you have what it takes to replace Nils in Aeon. Don't hesitate to send us an application with some audio/video of you playing drums. You don't really need to be able to play exactly every little detail Nils does on the albums. The most important is that you are able to play the basics in the songs and the rest can be worked out from there. Naturally, we would prefer a drummer who lives in Sweden, but we are also open for distant/foreigner drummers as far as Europe goes, at least."
