Power Quest - Announce New Vocalist And Guitarist

It's been close to two months now since Power Quest parted ways with vocalist - Pete Morten and guitarist - Ben Randall. The UK power metal outfit have, however, found and announced their replacements as they continue to work on Power Quest's 5th studio album, Blood Alliance.

Chitral "Chity" Samapala whose style has been compared favorably with Ronnie James Dio, Klaus Meine and Johnny Gioeli; and also who is well known and highly regarded worldwide in the Rock and Metal scene having recorded, toured and made guest appearances with the likes of Avalon, Faro, Civilization One, Firewind and Red Circuit, as well as fronting his own band, will be taking over vocal duties.

Power Quest main man Steve Williams comments: "I'm thrilled to have recruited a vocalist and frontman of Chity's calibre. I've known Chity for a couple of years and we have often talked about working together and now we have that opportunity. We have already recored 3 new songs with himand they just sound immense."

Gavin Owen, formerly of Welsh metallers Triaxis has also joined Power Quest's ranks as the band's new guitarist. "Gav's addition last weekend was of the highest standard and we were all very impressed by his playing and how he conducted himself throughout the process", said Steve Williams. "There was an instant chemistry there between him and the rest of the guys and particularly with Andy which bodes well for the future"

Interesting news indeed! If his work with Firewind is anything to go by, Chity is a really good vocalist and it'll be really interesting to hear him in Power Quest.

Can't say I've heard of the guitarist though, but again, should be interesting to see how this shapes a new sound.

I actually saw this on the main website last night and for some reason the images of Chity and Gavin scared me slightly, it felt like the site had been hacked or something!

I wasn't expecting that.
Yet a great choise.

He did quite well with Firewind and his voice fits a more heavier power metal very well (in case there is going to be changes with the style of PQ)
