Iron Maiden - New Video Online

Iron Maiden have premiered their new video for the opening track of the upcoming album The Final Frontier, to be released next month. The clip for "Satellite 15... The Final Frontier" is actually pretty cool, so check it at this location.

The video was produced by award-winning production company Darkside Animation Films. Darkside's creative team includes animators who've created effects for feature films including "Lost in Space", "Gladiator" and "Black Hawk Down". The script was written by the director of BBC Radio's "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy", and the live action was co-ordinated and directed by Nick Scott Studios.

As well as working round the clock to turn out over three months of animation in eight weeks flat, the Darkside team developed entirely new technology to bring to life as never before Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddie, in his new alien incarnation. A total of 141 shots combined live action with integrated CGI as well as full 3D animation, resulting in a complete running time of five minutes - that's over seven thousand frames, taking up to half an hour to render each frame!

Intriguingly, some of the integral footage was shot at Rendlesham Forest in Southern England, which is associated with The Rendlesham Forest Incident due to a series of reported sightings of unexplained lights and alleged landing of a craft of unknown origin.

More news about the new album here.

Interesting, although kinda senseless video. i like the song though, nothing too mindblowing but imo something to make me look forward to the album.

Pretty boring song for being Maiden. Hope the rest of the songs are better than this one on the album.

The song sounds as if it were from Bruce Dickinson's solo era, especially skunkworks. It sounds more hard rock than NWOBHM

I like the vid. I was paying more attention to it than the song, however.

Exactly what I thought... Remind me AC/DC or Scorpion, but with Bruce voice... The end of the video was nice, but still, it's only another video to me... Where is my Age of Innocence sound... Or Alexander the Great... It seems like I've already heard this song before, but not from Maiden...

Still have some hope for the rest of the songs

What an utterly boring song. And damn Bruce's vocals make me cringe and wince nowadays.

Very boring song. El Dorado was much better. I am fearing the worst for the new album now though...

The video was okay...the idea was neat, but the execution was a bit dodgy lol

Great! this is simply the most interesting metal video

recently there was only a load of absolutely dull and empty videos - Solsagan by Finntroll or Equilibrium's Der Ewige Sieg

this is finally something!

I like the song. The video itself is good... but I dont think it fits very well in a maiden (or any metal) song.

The song is actually decent, at least better than El Dorado...

Nevertheless, I really hope the rest of the album is better than those 2 songs...

Very average song, and the video is a huge waste of money. Neither of these will be a hit.

Well, both the video and song were weak for me.

The video is not imaginative enough, it reminds you more of a 5 minute movie rather than an entertaining clip. Eddie barely even resembles a mummy now. I have never associated Eddie as being just a skeleton.

The song is not even metal (and not a ballad, so no excuse). It is boring and nothing new. In the last two albums you can really tell how weak Bruce's vocals are now. This song is a great example. Where are the screams etc?

I can only hope the rest of the album is better.

When was Eddie a mummy other than the Powerslave days?

It is boring and nothing new.

Maiden stopped being innovative many years ago. All they're doing since Bruce's comeback is recycling the same boring thing over and over ad nauseam. There's nothing to expect from a worn-out old band than the same sleep-inducing crap you already heard a million times.

In the last two albums you can really tell how weak Bruce's vocals are now. This song is a great example.

Vocals are probably the worst part in Maiden since at least Dance Of Death. Bruce is one of my favorite metal vocalists on Maiden's 80s stuff but I can't stand him at all on the recent stuff. It's just painful to hear.

Oh great, the video is alright, and the song too. I don't ask something new from Iron Maiden, it's like asking for something new to Motorhead or AC/DC.

I loved the video and the song.
Video is what iron maiden have always done. a bit funny in my opinion..these guys seem to like this style. I also don't care how Eddie looks like..if he is a mummy or a skeleton or else...What do people expect from a metal video i don't know. but i would prefer seeing the band members in it.

Both new songs are different than usual Maiden. This is something new and i am happy about it. I agree that they sound like AC/DC or Hard Rockish...which is great for me. and there is nothing bad about sounding hard rock. I think they are performing the songs at top quality and i find the songs catchy and fun to listen to.

I am sure the album will be great and i will have wonderful time listening to it.

The video looked nice, but not really something special. A lot better than your average metal video though. The song was pretty "Maiden" but again nothing really interesting...just a solid one.

I never thought that I could give a bad opinion about Maiden, but now is the time: this song was so BOOO-RING (say it in the Annoying Orange style, he-heh), and the video was VERY STARCRAFT-ISH, with a Terran against the Zerg Eddie. I'm sorry but my hopes about this album drop down so much with this video and song. El Dorado was better (and this song was not neither at the level of any from No Prayer For The Dying)
