Haha, touring with trivium, serves you right for such a 'course of events' lately and a crappy and cliched album title

Please let this be a joke. Another metalcore act? I thought Portnoy left the band.

17.07.2011 - 21:01 Written by Shuruga on 17.07.2011 at 17:53 You haven't actually listened to Trivium since Ascendancy have you?! Cuz if you had you would know that they haven't written metalcore since that album, now you may still think their new non-metalcore material is crap too but you should still be able to tell they are not metalcore anymore (provided you're not one of those people who just because you don't like a band you call them metalcore/mallcore despite what kind of music they actually play). Now granted yes The Crusade was definitly an abomination of metal that's for sure but even it was not a metalcore album, Shogun was far from metalcore and In Waves (from what they've released so far) is not going to be a metalcore album either. So please, before you go spouting off ignorant statements, listen to a band's recent material to get an idea of what they are actually playing nowadays...

17.07.2011 - 21:10 Written by psykometal on 17.07.2011 at 21:01 Guess I touched a nerve. Everything I have heard of the band is metalcore, sorry for not actively pursuing a band I am not fond of? And no, I do not hate all in the genre. I just don't think a progressive band paired up with (to my knowledge) a pure metalcore band makes much sense. I believe that if you are going to see a band, their openers should at least be within the same vein as the headliner.

Odd pairing, but this should be sick. Been wanting to see both of these bands for some time, but it's never worked out.

18.07.2011 - 03:52 Written by Shuruga on 17.07.2011 at 21:10 Just a little but not because of the band, I am a fan of the band yes but I could care less if someone talks shit cuz they genuinely don't like the band as long as they have given said band a chance (especially when it's a band like this who has actually changed their sound and their style) or in Trivium's case a couple chances. But calling Trivium a "pure metalcore" band or even just a metalcore band, like in your original post, makes it obvious that you have not listened to them since Ascendancy and honestly you really should, fuck The Crusade don't give that a chance but Shogun at the very least deserves a chance because it is very different from Ascendancy, it's a lot more mature and far from metalcore. Now after giving Shogun an honest chance if you still think they suck then fair enough but at least after giving Shogun a chance you will not call them a metalcore band anymore and you may even respect them a little bit for changing, even if you still don't like them. I do agree an opener for a band like Dream Theater should be a band similar to Dream Theater and seeing this news I too said "huh? really?" but I still like both bands though.

18.07.2011 - 09:36 Written by Parasomnia on 18.07.2011 at 07:05 I dunno, everything that I've heard off of In Waves that's been released sounds exactly like metalcore to me. There are a couple metalcore bands I enjoy, so I'm not using the term as an insult. But from what I've heard, they're metalcore, not thrash or trad. or whatever.

20.07.2011 - 12:50 Written by CHEF METALHEAD on 19.07.2011 at 02:01 lol.. So do you always get your information from wiki, us adults know better then that.. Trivium did start off as a metal core band only because they didnt want to be known as a metallica wannabe band, after ascendancy Matt changed his vocal style because he wasnt a natural screamer and did not want to hurt his voice, and in crusade and shogun they were more thrash then anything else. And I should know, i know every album front to back. And only reason they could do a good thrash sound was because of Travis Smith, his rythem and his flow was sick. Now that they have the new guy they kind of mashed their old metal core style with everything else they have done.. And I really dont see why people are getting butt hurt because they are acusing Trivium of being labled in the wrong genre, Matt Heafy Himself said we dont want to be referred to as a metal core band but a metal band. So if anybody wants to hate go right ahead, Metal nowdays has become like every other genre, lets attack and trash it because we hate the band and have nothing else better to do.. This is metal get a clue..

I really don't give a shit about the two bands at all. All I wanted to do is give some info. about the two bands to the fans and now I can see that the fan is butt hurt about the whole thing..... So enjoy your band and still be butt hurt because it won't fuck my day up.... LOL Oh, by the way, Trivium fans put up all that info. on wiki. So take it up with your other Trivium fans about putting up false info. about Trivium... BUTT HURT!!!!!
