Epica - To Stop Playing Live For A While, New DVD Coming

The Dutch symphonic metal band Epica has confirmed that they will stop playing live from the 1st of July due to Simone Simons' pregnancy, but the DVD of their 10 year anniversary called Retrospect will be hitting stores next fall. In other good news, the group also plans to write a new album in the second half of 2013 and release it in 2014.

The band posted the following on their Facebook page: "We are happy to announce that Simone is pregnant! Simone and longtime partner Oliver Palotai (Kamelot, Sons Of Seasons) are expecting their first child around the end of summer. To ensure the best possible pregnancy and considering Simone's and the baby's health, we have decided to stop our live activities from the 1st of July. This means Epica will not play this year's Masters Of Rock festival in the Czech Republic.

However, this does not mean Epica won't do anything! Our Retrospect live DVD will be released upcoming fall. Furthermore, during the second half of 2013 Epica will start working on a brand new record which will be released in 2014. We are looking forward to see you all at the remaining shows this year and will be back next year with a new CD, stronger than ever!"

Uh Oh...

2 touring musicians in hugely successful bands having a baby together.. That means one of them will have to quit. Im hoping its Oliver but im betting it will be Simone.. Fuck.

^ maybe they just stop touring for a while , I mean the next Epica tour is not even close . Epica just isn't the same band without Simone , it won't happen .

Well, her pregnancy was prominent during Retrospect so obviously she needs to stop performing live, Congratz! I don't think she'll quit though, Sharon had 3 babies and didn't quit WT, so no worries, I think...

Who's Sharon? I know musicians having kids doesnt mean they automatically quit but since both of them are in hugely successful bands it makes me skeptical. I mean what happens when they both have to go on tour at the same time? I guess Simone could take the baby with her on tour but I dont know...
