Ruining everything for whom? How would you feel to pour all your resources into a project for more than 15 years and when things are doing great, your partner shows you the front door, taking everything and leaving you with nothing, even more, with debts! Sorry, but the real injustice would've been for Gummi to leave it as it is and go on. You can't just fuck up the a 15-year effort into making Solstafir what it is today. Solstafir is what it is today thanks to Gummi for the most part. So he deserves its fair share. I do not really care if the band is put to rest as I pretty much lost interest in it after I heard what happened to Gummi. Fans sometimes need to put themselves into the shoes of those involved in their favorite band and experience what they do. I'm sure that anyone would've done the same thing as Gummi did after all the middle fingers shown.

Axelson and Slashson ... well Solstafir wont get 10 millions for reunion, even Icelandic kronor so ... they wont be friends lol

As a long time friend of the guys I can't sit back and shut up about this bullshit anymore. Believe me when I say that there are really good reasons for Gummi getting expelled from the band. I love the guy, he is a good soul, but he went to far with too many things and at that point it was to either disband or drop Gummi. The rest of the band has been silent in the media about the reasons why they let him go out respect for theyre long time friendship, this is especially true about Addi, and because they don't feel it is right to air they're dirty laundry in public so the "fans" can chew on the fat of it. And for those assholes sitting out and feeling like they have some right to pass judgement, fuck you and the self righteous horse your fat asses rode in on. You have half of the story and therefore in no position to make judgement on anything. They are still a great band, Gummi is still a good guy and pretty decent human being, and I do miss seeing him behind the drums, for me an integral part of the experience is missing and I wish they could all, ALL of them try and look past they're grievances and sit down as the friends and try to work things out and take responsibility for the situation and they're part in it.

For anyone who is reading this. I've been a Sólstafir fan since 2001 when they played a show with Down To Earth and Myrk at Grand Rokk, Reykjavík, Iceland. It was the first time I met these guys, and from these early years I've been friends with them. During 2003 to 2007 I used to take care of ticket sales at venues plus merchandising, generally helping them out, as they were my favourite band. We did some massive parties together, mostly in downtown Reykjavík where we were up for some shenanigans. I felt privileged to watch Sólstafir grow from being a virtually unknown band playing for 2-3 people in Akureyri 2003, to become what they are today. The most memorable gigs that I can inform is the gig at Grand Rokk where they were raising funds to get Gimsi, a friend of the band, to go with them abroad, for sound duties. It was for the most important gig, where Spinefarm/Spikefarm picked them up in Copenhagen. Other memorable gigs were the failed Masterpiece of bitterness record gig at Gaukurinn, and some Eistnaflug gigs throughout the years. Since this fucking shit happened, I spoke with Gummi and Addi directly to their both sides of their story. Pjúddi (Sæþór) was always neutral and it meant nothing for me to speak with Svavar as he was too emotionally invested.

Through all this time, for all the records they put out, for all their hard work, - I was really happy for them, and I cheered them on, like a football team - never backing down. But it came apparent to me at Eistnaflug 2014 that something wasn't right. The fact is, one year prior, Svavar had been dating this girl for a while... and he completely ruined the relationship over some period of time.But in 2014 this particular girl was dating Gummi. I noticed resentment from Svavar and Addi about this situation, but though it would only fade out within couple of months or so. It proved otherwise and the couple sticked together through thick and thin, to say the least. Very turbulent relationship, putting extra pressure on the band as Svavar was far from happy with it. But credit to Gummi, as Svavar had played this card on him, couple of years earlier, where Svavar had an affair Gummi's girlfriend at the time for on some occasions, but later reconciled (Gummi put the band in first place, unlike Svavar later on) . This situation obviously put some strain on the band fellowship, where Svavar was unable to get over his ex, and thus poisoning the atmosphere.

To put it short, Addi teamed up with Svavar, Sæþór played the neutral card and Gummi was in love. Regardless, they did some tours, but apparently the relationship suffered, where the bus atmosphere got so toxic, because of arguing, that the booking manager and the sound engineer were ready to quit the whole thing. That is funny because they are such insignificant people, (especially Erin the manager) but Addi and Svavar sided with them because it fit their narrative. Gummi did not help his cause when he invited the girl on the tour bus [edit: Gummi challenged this statement - as he didn't invite her on the bus but went to meet her alone, after a gig in Netherlands where she was travelling with her family], which apparently mades things worse from what I understand. This was the core band relationship problem.

Other problems arose during the Ótta production. Addi had hired some designer chicks to do the some partial artwork thing for Ótta, but somehow transpired to deciding on cover, until Gummi abruptly cancelled their plans and ideas. Delaying the release of the album for quite a while. When it comes to ideas, sometimes Gummi is really stubborn and difficult to deal with, but to be fair, he knows what's up with artwork. This demonstrated some kind of power struggle within the band on decision making. Maybe it had been growing for a while, maybe not.

There were also allegations of fiscal issues... as I have spoken directly with Gummi and Addi about it, I will not comment until their case has made its course through the Icelandic justice system.

The band decides to boot Gummi, and call it "due to personal reasons" ... they cover it up with some bullshit story.

To make this short I can put it a short list:

Svavar has an affair with Gummi's fiancé 2006-7 while they were in relationship
Gummi dates Svavar's ex in 2014 after Svavar fucked it all up year before. Band relationship suffers.
Addi and Svavar team up. Sævar is neutral - and was always band minded.
Gummi has problems about artwork which Addi organized.
Gummi invites girl on tour ... things get heated up.
Sound guy and Erin the manager threaten to quit on tour because of bad atmosphere, pointed to Gummi.
Tour ends ... then next tour is about to begin, where Gummi gets his email saying he will not participate.

Rest is journaled in detail in Gummi's blog. The statements from Addi and Erin will just make you ask more questions...

I felt better not knowing what this shit was about. That story is just pathetic. Also, if it is true, it certainly looks like Svavar is the bad guy and not Gummi. But who knows...

I'm more interested in how this will proceed. Since Gummi owns 50% of the Sólstafir trademark, will they be made to change their name or something? Looks like either that or paying royalties to Gummi forever even though he is not in the band anymore.

Ah, screw this.

Even if they read it, which I really doubt, all those private details are no concern of the fans. Strictly private stuff and for a good reason bands usually state "personal reasons" when parting ways, without going into details.
