Locus Neminis - Guitarist Franz Enkner Passes Away
Austrian black metal machine Locus Neminis just lost their guitarist Franz Enkner (also in French melodic black metal act Deathcode Society. Back in February, the band had announced that their second full-length album is coming. However, we don't know how the guitarist loss will affect them.
Locus Neminis wrote via Facebook: "Dear friends, It is with deep sadness that we announce that our friend and bandmate Franz Enkner is no longer with us. We are absolutely shocked and heartbroken. It feels just so surreal. Not only was he such a good human being but also an unbelievably talented and creative musician. We want to express our most sincere condolences to his family. You will be missed Franz, always."
Deathcode Society wrote: "Today we mourn. Several days after our concert at the Met-Bar Lenzburg, our guitar player and beloved friend Franz passed away. He was the one who used to find the solutions. He was quickier than anybody else to fix difficult situations. And a couple of days ago, unfortunately, he came to crack the Code, before anybody could stop him.
"We wish we would never have to write such a statement. Franz was a friend, a brother and probably the most trustworthy person in the world, besides being a stellar guitar player, a smart and funny buddy. Listing his qualities, as a human being and a working partner, would be an endless task. But on top of that he was genuinely honest and humble, humble to the point he would probably not recognize himself in this portrayal. He would ironize and say something absolutely unexpected, to turn the pathos into some kind of absurd joke.
"He left us and we have no choice but to let him fly and reach the heights where his soul had his lair. At this time, nothing more we could say can express how we feel. We only want to thank all the people who attended our shows and showed their support and their passion for our music - because this music was exactly what our friend was living for. He gave everything he could for it, and for you all. The present situation hurts too hard and at this point it would not be wise to take any decision about the band's future. We need time.
Deep under the surface of the ocean
is a strange unlit world
where the carcasses of sunken vessels land.
As they start their descent into the abyss,
the growing pressure crushes and distorts them.
A deafening racket, yet unnoticed in the unfathomable silence.
There, in the aphotic zone,
the marine snow sets a perpetual winter.
Small debris from the surface form conspicuous snowflakes,
irridescent in the weak hallows of the lantern fish.
The shallow-living species
have vowed to never resurface.
They welcome the torn pieces of the wreck
with no hint of animosity on their faces.
The Ningen, open-armed, waves long, gnarled fingers.
The bleak photophores of firefly squids and eels sing
in time with the slow movement of tube worms.
This silent performance
mustn't be witnessed by the unprepared diver.
For its eerie significance
could poison his mind and take him over."
