Zeal And Ardor - New EP Coming, Two Songs Revealed

Avant-garde metal enthusiasts Zeal & Ardor have released two new singles, "I Can't Breathe" and "Vigil". The tracks will be part of the band's upcoming EP, Wake Of A Nation, which will be out on October 23rd.

Mastermind Manuel Gagneux commented: "Wake Of A Nation's intent and context should be obvious. I like to revel in ambiguity and in room for interpretation. This is not the case here. These 6 songs are a knee jerk reaction to what has happened to my fellow people in the last months. Originally I was set to record an album scheduled to come out next year. As these songs were written due to the horrendous events that instilled them I decided to release them as soon as possible. Using the rich heritage and culture as a part of my musical identity it felt like cowardice to sit by and continue with my routine as if nothing happened.

"This record is for Michael Brown, Eric Garner, George Floyd and the countless untold and nameless killed. It is for the brave souls willing to take a stand and ready to risk their own wellbeing so that others may have theirs intact. All revenues from sales and streaming of 'I Can't Breathe' will be donated. Stay vigilant; stay loud"

Wow that is great. It sounds like something a consciously aware musician would do.

The two songs give a good vibe. This type of music and lyrical themes have been a template of his since the beginning of his career. You are making it seem like he is cashing in on tragedies just now (how can you even cash in when you are donating?).

It most be so tiresome to be that cinical.

It's a cynical world we live in. We just have to adapt as we see fit hahaha.

Looking through the forum and seeing that Maco commented on this, I knew he'd say something stupid.

Would like to know where the money will be donated tbh. If it's in support of Antifa, then this may as well not exist. If it's to help pay for funeral expenses of the dead, assist with educational funding for children left without a parent, or chip in where possible to rebuild in the wake of the riots, then I'll be streaming this overnight while I sleep for as long as they keep donating.

Good for him/them. I've not really listened to this group yet, but I'm gonna give this a listen to help out (however small that is).

I've read quotes before from this artist about how he feels that the two "sides" need to pave the way for progress through meaningful dialogue rather than by demonizing the other side. I hope he sticks with that and doesn't turn into a hypocrite.

In terms of the music... meh. These guys have been riding the wave of their first album for awhile now. I think they're out of good ideas, as most of what I've heard from them since has been boring.
