There are 3 that spring to mind for me... (I think I might have mentioned them on the old forum, I cant remember) Lycanthia - from Sydney The Eternal - from Melbourne Elegeion - also from Melbourne They're all play Gothy Doomyish kind of Metal. I think all three are really great bands well worth checking out.

I'm very pleased with Vanishing Point. I have their albums "Tangled in Dream" and "Embrace the Silence" and I must say that I enjoy their music a lot, especially their keyboards and guitars. Not one of the best Power/Progressive Metal in history, yet a neat one.

I really like Psycroptic and Alarum. I've never heard Alarum on a cd, just live. They put on a good show and were very entertaining to watch, but I heard they aren't that great on cd.

diSEMBOWELEMENT maybe? One of the pioneers of funeral doom. Come from Melbourne. The Amenta are another band (dont like them however). Kind of an industrial-ish black metal band.

hmm, 2 months ago i would have agreed with the first post but in the last few weeks iv been bombared with Aussie metal. Psychrist are quite good from Adelaide brutal black, Five Star Prison Cell are highly recomended to any Thrash/Death fan they are from Melbourne the drummer is fantastic. Destroyer 666 are very good as well, so are Alchemist progressive melo/death. And also legends of Hard Rock AC/DC.

Don't know much aussie metal but I like three of the four bands I know (Virgin Black, Voyager, Vanishing Point). Opposed to most of my friends I can't stand AC/DC. Don't know why I just can't.

My favorite are Illium, but seems nobody here heard of them except 3 or 4 persons, too bad for this is not only the best band I've heard from Australia but a very good power/heavy band.

When most people think of Australian Metal, they think of AC/DC because they're so popular. Thankfully we have a lot more better bands than that! My favourites include: Destroyer 666 (how come this one isn't coming over as a link for anyone?), Psycroptic, Black Majesty (an awesome first album!), Fuck...I'm Dead, Gospel Of The Horns (wow, you like them too Xtreme Jax?! I saw them live recently, they were awesome. Have you heard Destruktor in that case?), Destruktor, Dungeon, and the list goes on.

@Necromancer_S Thanks for Destruktor, i just checked out a couple of there track samples then... and im liking it. I'll try and find a place i can order it. You sound suprised that someone else likes Gospel Of The Horns? There a good band, there audio links are pretty good on the site if anyone else wants to here them: http://www.elementalist.net/gospel/gospel.html Ive left out so many bands from my favourite list: Destroyer 666, The Eternal, Elegeion. How could i forget these bands? *Gasp*

You should check their counterpart Dungeon, LORD Tim produces Illiums work, but he is the lead guitarist and vocalist of Dungeon too.

They're from Brisbane I believe, but I don't think many people know them. Both them and Destruktor are in the whole Destroyer 666 family. You are actually the first Metal Stormer apart from myself that I've seen to mention them.

Angry Anderson fucking rocks, man. However, I wouldn't consider Rose Tattoo metal, or even hard rock. To me, they're just good, solid rock.

I agree with Wynter, I see Rose Tattoo as more a solid rock if not hard rock genre, as with AC/DC. Or sometimes i call it Pub Rock, because its the music you'd hear on the old juke-boxes lol.

Pub Rock?? Rose Tattoo and AC/DC are all still playing live and are always playing in bigger venues than pubs. They're also a lot more metal than half the bands listed in this thread.
