Wanking, in the context of music, is the act of playing very technical, difficult material which does absolutely nothing for the music, generally detracting from the quality. No one with taste likes wanking, especially wanking that sounds like it was written by 13 year olds with too much technical proficiency for their own good.

This whole album just sounds completely amateurish. Repetition of annoying prog riffs backing somewhat nonthreatening growls and screams. It's already a given fact metalcore rarely sounds threatening, but it should at least sound convincingly pissed off, or carry some sort of extreme emotion. This sounds like it's music made by a handful of teenagers who, despite having an appreciation for extreme music, don't have the feel for it.

Then again, perhaps the reason the contrived anger isn't connecting is simply because they seem completely incapable of holding onto one fucking thread for more than 20 seconds. It's like they took all the time shifts from prog, but removed any substance in between. Considering the fact that they change what they're doing every couple seconds, you'd think Drowning Beneath The Sound Of Change would at least carry an unpredictable quality to it, but there's honestly nothing new here. To top everything off, these changes aren't even well done. Decent progressive metal should have each segment flow into each other smoothly, or collide in some interesting manner, this is just cram packed with aimless stops and re-starts. It basically sounds as if Last Call Chernobyl took a bunch of short riffs, then played them in order throughout an entire album with no direction or purpose.

Music is art, not sports - decent song writing should come before displays of technical prowess. Last Call Chernobyl? Good God, I hope this is the last call.

I don't mind a bit of progressive metalcore, and personally I see potential in these guys... I agree with pretty much all of the criticisms you made in the review, but I think they're a little harsh.
With a few minor tweaks and better production, I'd listen to this music for sure.
