The sound of this album has a typical Evergrey stamp on it, but it's definitely more advanced musically - this album takes Evergrey to a new level. The one track that really stands out is the quiet and bluesy Waking Up Blind is beautiful to tears - very emotional piece and nothing like Evergrey's previous works. Tom's wife Carina provides the trademark female vocals on some tracks, and a nice new addition - the Gothenburg Symphony string quartet provides the gloomy atmosphere.

Evergrey's highest peak point thus far, would be awesome if they did another concept album, with similar quality. Simply perfect, I really have no words to describe.

Stunning Cactus
I am half way through this album right now, and I can honestly say I love it. Truly beautiful material, and so ORIGINAL sounding too! The band is obviously comprised of unique songwriters and excellent musicians. Not to mention, the haunting, emotional timbre of the singer's voice is infectious.

I think I started at the wrong end of their discography. I listened to their newest releases before I descended to their 2000s material. Regardless, I'm glad I've got to this. Better late than never.

Not a bad moment here. Plenty of great melodies and I really like how it offers a bit of variation compared to the two previous ones. Should probably listen to a bit more than i've done, feels like it grows a bit every time I hear it.
