This is the list of my favourite progressive metal/rock albums of the decade. I decided to do this list because a new decade is starting, so it's a good time to look back. Beware, this is not a "best progressive metal albums of the decade" list, it's my favourites, not necessarily the ones that were the best for everyone else or me.

I never really got into them big time, I thought their first two records were good but not groundbreaking. They didn't leave a mark on me, that's why they are not on the list

Where is In The Silence Album ?

Do you mean "A Fair Dream Gone Mad"? If so, this list is with albums from the last decade and so it doesn't fit

Focus is from the 90's?

Yes, I only noticed months later after publishing this list. I guess it's an intruder, still amazing album though

Wtf, no Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor? That one is easily one of the best progressive metal albums I've heard. But then again, I'm not that much into the genre.

Yes, Seventh Wonder never clicked for me. Do you recommend anything in particular from them?

And please do check Riverside. They are a gem of a band and literally all of their albums are impressive. I'm still exploring the new one but still...

Well, to make it related to this list...

I'd say Mercy Falls. Its a concept story (complete with cheesy, awful dialogues every now and then) so I'd recommend listening to in one full go, but if you want songs, I'd say Paradise or Break the Silence, and if you like a ballad then go for Tears for a Father.

Waiting in the Wings is alright, but for some reason I'm not too keen on it. Riffs aren't that interesting to me, and the synth sound I'm not a fan of. Other people like it a lot though.

I havent listened to original album much.

I like Great Escape album, but it was 2010 so doesn't fit for the list. The lyrics are pretty poor/generic throughout, but the increase in melodies and harmonies that are interesting more than makes up for it.

Ive actually been listening to new riverside. Im enjoying it a lot.

Great list

I know you like Marillion, they did 5 albums (including Less Is More), two of them great - Anoraknophobia and Marbles.
Not complaining, just saying.
