Too much hype after the brilliant debut album. I feel the heat should be carry on this new album as well.

Already got the vinyl and it sounds great! I'm glad vocalist change didn't affect the band too much.

To be honest, I didn't like their 1st album. I found it a bit all over the place, sounding a little like this and that, a familiar sounding mess. I couldn't grasp the hype, it felt cringey.
This one however is a really enjoyable album with its own clear identity. Of course it's very Rotting Christ-ey, Jim is one of their founders, but at now it feels Yoth Iria decided what they want to sound like. A signature 90's Greek Black Metal band and they do it really well.

After a couple of listens, this is way more modern Rotting Christ-sounding (Theogonia vibes aplenty) than the debut, which had references to RC, but from the '90s when Jim was there. The album is instantly catchy and of course infinitely better than anything RC have been doing lately. I prefer Magus as a vocalist, but it's not that I dislike the new one.
The problem is that my ears have become so tired of the newer RC recycling themselves in every.fucking.song. for so many years that anything even remotely having this sound makes me cringe. Jim is one of the founders, but he wasn't there when Sakis turned RC to what they are today. So, this is Jim copying what Sakis does, and he admittedly does it better. I am quite disappointed with the plagiarism, despite the fact that this is well written. And a few of the melodies are clearly stolen.

Finally, another hellenic black metal throwback, after the tremendous and ridiculously underrated "The Crimson Temple" by Varathron, by none other than Jim Mutilator.
These two bands are keeping the hellenic black metal flag sky high, with the loud exception of Rotting Christ as always.

Actually, this album pretty much surprised me with its both melodic and satanic sound but at the same time with its 'Hellenic' instrumental break. As a Greek, I can easily feel the traditional instrument zurna getting played at the back. The album itself has amazing performance from what I can say. Their songwriting is generally really good and they are still keeping their quality at the same/higher level. If you love listening to "Melodic Metal" this is something you would definitely enjoy listening to!

As has been said, this sounds to me like a zillion Rotting Christ releases. I also like the other vocalist way way more.
