Recently, I (re)discovered Fates Warning : Disconnected. Well, let's see? It's the follower album of their 1997 outstanding-landmark release A Pleasant Shade of Gray. Disconnected was one of these albums I didn't listen so much. Actually it was hidden somewhere in the pile, waiting patiently its turn. But the time has come (at least, I think so!) to give it some more attention, and write down my thoughts?

"Something From Nothing" and "Still Remains" are two of the best songs Jim Matheos has ever written. The first is more riff-ticious like earlier FW and the ladder is more proggier like Dream Theater/Porcupine Tree.

Great album! Not a single weak song and some are simply awesome.

Brilliant record and one of the better prog metal albums made. Mark Zonder drumming and the industrial touch on the melodies are masterful.

I wouldn't call it industrial, Kevin Moore helped on keyboards, as he did on the previous album. Keyboards create a nice atmosphere.

I don't know how to express it, i'm not saying it's industrial metal but the atmosphere of the album is kind of industrial and moody. Anyway a blast listening to it, though maybe not a sunny summer day
