It's not so usual to have good surprises nowadays, but with a bit of luck sometime you can receive some good new albums. "The Dark Third" the first album of the British of Pure Reason Revolution is one of these good surprises. With a lovely mix of Metal, Pop and Progressive Rock a la Pink Floyd, PRR is for me one of the first great surprises of the year 2007. If you like cool Prog and nice female vocalist I simply recommend you to check this release. Read more ›› |

In a couple of days Pure Reason Revolution will embark on their very final tour consisting of just six dates in UK. As a parting gift, their brilliant début album The Dark Third will be played in its entirety for the first time ever. So, this is a fitting moment to step 5 years into the past and revisit this beautiful progressive masterpiece that has found its way into my playlist more times than I could possibly count. Very atmospheric with some catchy riffs and beautiful vocals. 8.5/10 leaning towards an 8.

I'd say this is easily my favourite of their full lengths. Plenty of great songs and very little to skip. "The Twyncyn..." and "He Tried To Show Them Magic..." are my long time favourites from the album, but there's some other great tracks like "Borgens Vor" and "Golden Clothes" etc (also the "The Intention Craft" which is listed on this album, at least on ytube). I wish they had done more in this similar style (of 1st LP and 1st EP), maybe there's hope with the upcoming album. While I don't see it as a total masterpiece album, it's still great for many a listens. Where is the metal tho
