Satyricon - Begin Work On New Album

Close to a year ago, Satyricon announced they were taking a short break. Well, the band's hibernation is now over. Moreover, Satyricon announced today they will start working on a new record any time soon. Here's the full message:

"Our off year is coming to an end and in a few months time we will start writing for a new album. We are feeling fresh and charged. In 2011 we will re-release all albums from the nineties with updated art work and re-mastering where it is needed. There might even be some interesting shows to go with it!

Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to visit Russia with The Age Of Nero, until now that is. Therefore we are pleased to announce shows in St Petersburg and Moscow in December."

One year is no decent hibernation for a band. These guys have nothing else to do with their lives outside of Satyricon it seems.

Oh shut it, I just wanna see hawt hawt Satyr again live

Remastering doesn't sound a good idea to me, but I'm glad their back, because I thought I'd be the end of Satyricon when the announced they're taking a break. Who knows, maybe a year was enough to give them enough energy and inspiration for the next album.

A proper remastering for any album mastered in the 90s is always welcome It at the very least should correct the volume level discrepancies with today's current mastering basic standards. If he'd mentioned "remixing and remastering" in the vein of the atrociously done Megadeth discs, yes, I'd be afraid and boycotting the purchase.

Hopefully Satyr will have some genuinely new ideas and make for more new evolutions - and do some more live dates too.

Part of the charm on Satyricon's first 3 albums is the raw sound. If they give modern production to them, it won't work.
What is this fucking idea metal bands suddenly have in mind to re-master their albums, making them sound too polished and boring?

If people want over-polished pseudo Black Metal crap, they just have to listen to bands like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth.

As big a Satyricon fan as I am, I don't see myself getting the remastered versions of their old albums. I kind of think the remastering will mar the original sound, which I find to be special.

Not only are you incredibly late responding here, but incredibly wrong. This isn't a page for fans, but for anyone who happens to be on the site. Some people like Satyricon, some don't. Some people like me enjoy their early works and think they took a nose-dive later in their career. And that a remastering of any of their early works is pointless.

Why are you visiting a forum if you don't understand that people are allowed to voice their own opinions?
