I am seeking more and more metal songs about loneliness or being alone, in its lyric, or even just "loneliness/alone" word in the song title. (But preferable of the the main topic case). Im pretty sure a lot songs for this theme, too many so would to know specifically your case or suggestion. I recently been through these recently which urge me open the topic: Revolution Renaissance - Loneliness of A Thousand Years Revolution Renaissance - Keep The Flame Alive Dark The Suns - Alone Stratovarius - Forever Opinionatedly, need more recommendations because songs about loneliness almost has so beautiful music/lyric. And only and only metal genre deals with it. So, share yours and thanks

I suggest listening to Sonata Arctica, they sing a lot about personal struggles, albums in particular: Reckoning Night and Unia.

The song that instantly sprang to my mind when I saw this thread was "Imprisoned In Flesh" by Cathedral. The lyrics are very poetic and beautiful. (as is the music) I also identify with them an awful lot, so its a song that means a lot to me. It's like a longing for love, even if that happens to be in another universe, or lifetime. <3 Im sure I will share more recommendations in this thread later. lol Nice Topic! xD

WASP - The Idol Doro & Lemmy - Alone Again Judas Priest - Here Come the Tears the first one is about a rock star who reaches out for the love he was never given as a child, the second one about loneliness following rejection or being left by a person of the other sex, and the third one is probably one of Priest's lesser known songs. it's much more general and vague, and can be put in various contexts, including both songs

I'd go with Coldworld's Tortured By Solitude from the album Melancholie², one of my favorite Depressive Black Metal releases.

22.10.2010 - 19:45 Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 22.10.2010 at 00:34 omgggg its lyric is absolutely solitude strong pro solitarinist. @Angelic Storm: Imprisoned In Flesh is so great poetic song. I got impressed by the title. The lyrical theme is very meaningful. So honored to know this song. @Mikyz: it is very great song. The album total absolute beautiful. @K7: doom has bunch of stuff about loneliness, when you are alcohol free, post it : I would update more: Children Of Bodom - Northern Comfort (eternal alone embrace) Children Of Bodom - Angel Don't Kill Dragonland - Forever Walking Alone Shamrain - No One Remember Your Name (warning: suicidal-tendency provoke, experiencedly) Colosseum - Corridors of Desolation Amorphis - Alone (absolute very thoughtful lyric) This theme lyric of loneliness/solitude is one of most solid messages carried by metal (and only metal musical genre) and by my experience that is I love this theme first still till now when I got to metal. \m/

I'm sure you'll find something for yourself from the vast doom genre. Gothic/doom, gothic, doom/death work wonders with that too. I seriously recommend The Foreshadowing, gothic/doom band I'm listening non-stop lately. So, The Foreshadowing - Departed The Foreshadowing - Death Is Our Freedom The Foreshadowing - Days of Nothing (this one actually contains 'and loneliness will be my bride' in lyrics)
---- *insert something deep and profound*

23.10.2010 - 02:23 Written by Mikyz on 22.10.2010 at 00:25 Absolutly ! I think "Suicide" is excellent too (oh wait, that's about killing yourself, not about feeling alone). Hmmm I guess you could pick up most DBM/Doom band or any power/heavy metal ballads if you're looking for sad/lonely songs.

It is good song but atm Im favor of "loneline solitude pro and keeping walking on" stuff like the Pantheist one. Embraced By Darkness seems too sorrowful to the extent of surrender. But surely someday I will go back to with it.

Streets was a bit too over the top for me most of the time. Good album but lacking some much needed raw edges.

It is more about the rock opera on that imo. And I see that album as a turning point. Afterwards they of course firs lost Cris and then Jon, but also Paul O'Neill's influence started getting bigger moving it to an almost progressive sound. Unfortunately so I might add since it is obvious that the true Savatage timeless classic albums and songs are from before and also a bit during Streets.

The Gathering's Alone is the first song that springs to mind. The first live version on A Sound Relief is especially tasty, you can see it on YouTube. I wouldn't call it a metal song, but Gathering fans are mostly metal fans so whatever. I don't really pay much attention to lyrics, so I have no other ideas. I'll keep my ears open.
