Mastodon - The Hunter

Is there any source to confirm this? Haven't heard anything official as yet...

Mastodon posted on their facebook page that they were writing new material, but as far as recording I don't know.

I wish it is a new studio album but if so then will it stand up to their previous
works?? bcuz it seems like too early a time to record a follow-up.......

So its wind this time around? Soft and flowing like CtS but still Heavy and stormy and blowing like Leviathan? that would be cool. A middle ground

Apparently this is going to be in the same vein as leviathan and less progressive, so it should be good knowing mastodon.

Sounds like a return to Leviathan-style from what I've heard thus far. Definitely interesting in seeing how it pans out.

I read about this album on wikipedia (i know wikipedia lies but, doesn't lie in everything) and much other places and i'm definitly going on this album! :-) ...i have good hopes on this one and i hope those reviews i've read could be true! :-)

So the album has leaked. Thoughts? It feels like it's pretty much back to basics on this album. I miss the long epic songs from CtS, as well as the stellar production quality. Not bad, but not their best.

I have listen through The hunter a couple of times, and it's good.. just not shure how good yet. But the riffing are heavy, vocals are exprimental, but mainly clean or "Semi growling" the drums are fantastic as always and the bass is prominent in the mix, which is good... I have to give it a couple of more spinns before i can give a rating though

I wish they'd play sludge again.

Album of the year? Maybe...I'll have to give it a few more spins but oh man they hit the nail on the head with this one.

It is a natural progression from Crack The Skye, it once again misses the brilliance of the first two albums. This one is once again sludge light (just like Crack the Skye)

It is a natural progression from Crack The Skye, it once again misses the brilliance of the first two albums. This one is once again sludge light (just like Crack the Skye)

i like it, and it does have some of the energy of the earlier work with parts and structures reminiscent of Crack The Skye at times. I'd say it is closer to a step back than a continued progression of CTS. i wouldn't even call CTS sludge light. this one is, CTS wasn't... we put it in Alternative Metal for the MSA's.

I like it, another crazy album from these psycho dudes.

Why Brent Hinds's voice always reminds me of Ozzy's, I'm I the only one?

I love the sound of this album. I love trippy shit and this one is swaying into Monster Magnet's musical territory in a couple of places, but with more elaborate songs. Maybe if Magnet, Tool, and Led Zeppelin's albums became self-aware and had a massive orgy it would give birth to the more atmospheric songs. Dopes To Infinity + Lateralus + Physical Graffiti. Those are my points of reference....

These songs are cool. I can't wait to go buy this.

Hunter's lyrics "Love you make......." is from Beatles' Abbey Road album, which is excellent. The Beatles song is called The End; it's good for a late-era "Paul" song and makes up for Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

Yeh Thats it, Its a good album but I havent heard it in ages though , But enough of the off topic, This album is really good currently sitting around the 8/10 mark for me.

Got my copy today, apparently it's released earlier here in Belgium than it says on the official page.

Again another great album from an awesome band!
