Very good album. Michael Kiske's best performance in his whole career (Apart from some songs on the Keeper albums) i would say specially on "The Chance"...

I would add also the Chameleon album for the best production this album had. Maybe a bit different in style but also unique. For PBGA listen how powerfull is his voice in songs like Someone's Crying and Mankind, Your Turn. At the end of Someone's Crying he reach again this unbelievable high voice he has.

That's true. I've heard the album tons of times. Your Turn is an amazing ballad...

A lot better than it's reputation, and I do prefer this one to Keepers 2. It has a lot better flow and the song writing is more even. I also have to agree with some earlier comments here that Michael Kiskes performance on this record is among his best.

I think it's amusing how the guy with the eggs on his eyes on the back cover resembles Michael Kiske now.

Good album. Awful cover and mainly idiotic lyrics. Kiske sounds divine as always.

Surprises me that this is the direction the band wanted to go in after the success of both "Keeper..." albums. Then again, I guess more of the same would eventually render Helloween a one-trick pony, so an album like "Pink Bubbles Go Ape" would make sense in regards to keeping the songwriting fresh and somewhat original. A shame that I find this record so average then. I can sort of appreciate the band's willingness to venture into uncharted territory, but honestly, the delivery here seems half-hearted and lacks a lot of *ahem* power save for a few songs. "Mankind" and "Your Turn" are memorably well-written, but for me the rest of the album falls flat.

I don't see that much to write home about on this album. It has a couple of remarkable songs tops, Kids Of The Century and The Chance, I'd suggest. Other highlights would be Kiske's voice and Ingo's drumming (.. the latter best shown on Someone's Crying). I don't have a, nor ever had, a tendency to listen to most of this album again. I wouldn't say the band is dead yet here, but if you don't see the down fall already happening, you sir are a fool.

The last two songs alone make the album worthwhile.

I would have never thought this album has good songs, but it has:
07. Someone's Crying
08. Mankind
10. The Chance

I know it's like blasphemous to say this, but Helloween's style is near unbearable. Occasional good guitar solos, but I can't enjoy the music with the repetitive riffs and painful vocals. Kiske definitely sounds lots better these days. "Mankind" is great though.

So, Hansen left, and the whole band stopped to take their medications, or they started to do unsubscribed ones... I don't know what happened, but this album is painfully weak in comparison to all their previous works. "Kids Of The Century", "The Chance", "Mankind" and "Someone's Crying" are just okay, and everything else falls flat for me.

After one excellent album and two very good ones they release this, I didn't think it was horrible, but it's extremely average and most of the songs are very boring, the only ones that are really good songs and that you can listen to several times are Mankind (which has the coolest riff on the album) and The Chance, these are really good, Kiske has some good moments, but there are certain parts of certain songs where his voice is very annoying and difficult to listen to. Otherwise, the album is very weak and doesn't deliver material as good as its predecessors. It's likely that the band decided to go for a more hard rock style of music with a view to commercial success, but in the end it was a shot in the foot, Pink Bubbles go Ape was a commercial failure.

Thank you - that are exactly my words about this ... thing.
Especially "one excellent (I presume you mean WoJ) and two (I would cancel the very here) good albums". The Keeper LPs were allready a step back after the Masterpiece WoJ. This is unhearable. I don´t like Kieskes voice and Deris later made it even worse.
IMHO Helloween wrote one masterpiece and the rest is german volksmusik level.

I do like this album. It’s surely is not Helloween power metal but the songs are good. It’s a moody album, a bit over dramatic at times, and yet I keep going back to this album 30
years later. It’s not an album you should start with if you’re new to them. But if you know the history, you can surely respect the amazing job kiske does on this album, and how grapow came up with some of the best songs on this album. I can’t stand chameleon, but this album is solid. Mankind, going home, someone’s crying, I would love for Helloween to play those songs live
