Thrash is a popular and old metal and there has been many kinds of it throughout the years. Which decade do you think had the best thrash, be it bands, albums, styles or anything else. I would probably have to say the 80's or even the 90's.

The '80s. There isn't even any comparison. :/

In my opinion, there's only 2 answers possible: 80s or 2000s, since Thrash pretty much sucked in the 90s.
This decade was a disaster for Thrash Metal.

It's barely in the beginning. We can't count it as a decade yet.

Fairly obvious. Even someone like me that really likes some of the new stuff by new bands, and old bands, not even a comparison.

For future reference I suppose. Although I guess in 5 or so years we'll probably have MSv5 and threads like this will be re-created.

Yeah, this is probably the most pointless poll on the website. 1981-1992 at latest (gotta get Epidemic Of Violence in that timespan), maybe starting later and ending earlier, is pretty much universally accepted as the best time for thrash.

Okay I'm pretty sure everyone is going to vote for the 80s. Just subjectively I'm going to say I love the other decades too and the 2000s have been quite some great thrashing moments.

Still, for me this thread is pretty much uni-directional, most people who won't vote for the 80s would just vote the other decades for the lulz

I voted for 2000s because of The Crown, Legion of the Damned, Axegressor, Tribulation,....

but my favourite 3 Testament albums (Low, Demonic, Gathering) make a strong case for 90s as well

i can understand why most vote 80s, but i seriously don"t enjoy early Thrash that much

Probably not, since a lot of thrash resurgence fans know the '80s were the golden years. There will probably be a few people who think contemporary thrash is the best... but I don't think too many thrash fans will pay them any mind.

Okay this is kind of obvious:

80s - quality stuff mostly.
90s - till like '93 good stuff but after that boring, slow and uninspired mostly.
2000 - better than 90s in quality but not too great.
2010 - promising so far but hard to say yet.

If you really wanted to go against the obvious, you'd vote for the '90s.

Nobody likes the '90s.

Being a big fan of the Resurgence myself, I must say that its still the 80's, I mean the scene is bigger and all the inspiration of the new bands pretty much comes from there. With bands like Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden, Megadeth, Kreator, Overkill, Testament, Assassin (...). There is no show for the other decades its clearly the 80's
