I was wondering which metal album that could be considered the darkest and most depressive metal album of all time? To be honest I haven't thought about the question very much, but the album, of which I have heard, that come to my mind spontaneously is Neurosis' "A Sun That Never Sets".

It's not really metal, but since I am in a rather bad mood myself atm, I shun listening to "Dusk and void became alive" by Die verbannten Kinder Evas, because I'd probably kill myself on the spot if did .. nah I wouldn't but it is fucking depressing

Easily Lurker Of Chalice's self-titled album. The amount of depression and negativity in that album is too damn high, and that's only close enough. Musically, the album is a masterpiece, and emotionally, it's probably the darkest thing I've ever heard. It retains a black metal mentality but it's not really black metal and has some dark ambient elements, which contribute by adding a transcendental, ritualistic feel to the whole album.

I think it's quite uplifting compared to many depressive black metal, blackened doom and funeral doom album, or perhaps it's only me who find everything I enjoy uplifting, even the most depressive stuff that exist?

Depends.... if beautiful depressive, a lot of doom, check out Empyrium - Songs of Moors and Misty Fields . For dreaful depressive, depressive black metal has a lots. Lurker of Chalice is definitely good suggestion, very sublime

In fact, I don't really find any doom depressive except for early MDB (which probably is so because it was one of the first semi-extreme doom bands I listened to, and I just found it to be really bleak) which does make me quite sad and not in a good way (I don't really listen to MDB for this reason). But probably some DSBM would win this as those are often pretty fucked up but I cannot say a concrete example since aside from a few exceptions I hate DSBM.
