Tarja - Reveal New Album Title And Release Date

Finnish singer Tarja has announced more details about the upcoming new album. It will be entitled Colours In The Dark and will be released on August 23rd through EarMUSIC Records. The album was mixed and mastered by Tim Palmer in Austin, TX. Tarja has also revealed a string of tour dates (mainly in Germany), which you can check out below.

EarMUSIC press release: "Mixed and mastered by Tim Palmer in Austin, Texas (Pearl Jam, U2), the songs on Colours In The Dark do not shy away from taking a risk and surprising musical turns, introducing new sounds and new musical atmospheres. Still, they maintain a heaviness that will surely bring a big smile to the hardest of rockers. With its grand orchestra and choir arrangements, Tarja's next milestone emphasises once again the impressive vocal range of the Finnish artist and shows her artistic growth. With ten brand new songs and over one hour of music, Colours In The Dark is definitely going to be one of the brightest moments for rock in 2013."

Meh, not really interested whatsoever with this. I find Tarja's solo stuff so boring, even the metal stuff.

Woah, how ugly she looks now.

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

Yup it does.

First of all, her solo albums have always been boring and self-imposed mediocre songwriting that exported back to back boring albums from her camp.

So, the only thing left was to check her out, which now i think i can't even put my eyes on her.

Massive weight issue out here.

Maybe because she had a child some months ago? And I'm asking too: what does her appearance have to do with anything?

Although her albums are boring and lack creativity I feel she has potential.

I agree, her music is boring, she really needs a good songwriter like Tuomas. But I have a feeling metal is not really her world, she would prefer to make pop/classical albums. I remember during the first years of Nightwish she didn't even like metal, although she is used to it by now
And because of her past people expect her to make metal-based songs, so this leads to the uninspired music she is producing now. Sucks her voice is wasted on this.

If I'm correct she liked metal a lot, that's why she joined Thomas and Nightwish.

I don't think he's saying she's fat. I think he's pointing out the extreme opposite. She is unhealthy skinny in Act 1, and she was pregnant at the time.
Talking about the album, i'm looking foward to it, just for a few songs only. I find her solo albums a bit boring, but with a couple of songs that stand out.

Really? I didn't know it, I saw some pictures where she looked a bit chubby, that's why I thought he was referring to that. I don't know how she looked like in Act 1.
But anyway, my point is that she shouldn't be judged by her appearance, but her music.
I'm looking forward to the album too, hopefully it will be better than the others.

They knew each other for a long time, and played in the same jazz band. And when they formed Nightwish, it started out as an acoustic band (see demo). I think she didn't really know anything about the metal scene in the beginning.

As you watch Act 1 you can see a duality. Her belly was a bit chubby, but the rest, especially her face, was too skinny. You can see the chin and cheek bones very well as she sings, that's why everyone noticed she was pregnant.
In an interview in Argentina a few years ago, she said she wouldn't sing like she does, if she was a bit fatter. Also, she was fat (not obese) when she was younger.
So, i believe she has some serious weight disorders. And no, of course anyone should judge her by her looks, but, in part, she sells her image in every cd,
especially in the last one.

Also, she didn't like metal at the beginning, but as time went by, she started to like what she was doing. I think she's more into rock though.

Aha, this really made me laugh. I agree with the others though, it is really unnecessary, but I guess it is technically on topic.
Tarja has the odd good song, but I agree with what has been said above, most of her solo stuff has been really underwhelming.

Because every thread about a female singer must always devolve into an evaluation of her appearance.

Actually, every discussion on the internet about a woman must always be reduced to whether or not she is ugly / fat.

Way to go, humanity. Way to go.

Well, you won't see any forum/thread/topic about any woman( especially female lead singer) have a "comment" about her appearance. it's ought to be accepted to get a such reactions like this, because, they are considered to be physically beautiful. Yup, I just made a cliche shot.

Whether or not, you can'tr avoid that and won't be. There got to be some guy who will make a shot on her appearance(immaterial of she's hot or looks awful).

Nothing to blame on the part of humanity.

By whom? Half of the population, men (I'm talking about straight people). Strangely. the other half of the population almost never comments on a guy's appearance here. And I'm sure there are guys in metal who are considered hot or really ugly, but the female metalstormers just don't comment on that when they react to the news.

I know that there will be always someone, especially because there are far more guys here than girls. But yes, it's not OK, that women and men are still treated differently. That's what I'm saying, and sorry for turning this thread into offtopic, but it just needed to be said.

I seriosely agree with you ,and you said all I wanted to say in the best way, I again say she's not ugly, why am I insisting on this ? because as you said women and men are not being treated the same, there are very average looking guys in metal and they have never been mentioned as being ugly but seems that women look should be in the very certain ways that media advertise on it or they should got the same feminine stereotypes to be considered pretty and such, this pressure that is put on shoulders of females for their look will continue apparently

Thanks girl Yes, this is what's going on in metal now, but it's not as bad as in pop or in the general media fortunately. And hopefully it will improve if there will be more women in metal bands, not just as singers but guitarists, drummers, etc.

yup ! for sure! I'm very fond of any kind of their contribution to metal especially if they go for being instrumentalists picking guitar or drums as their instruments.

Well, if you feel the need to convey your opinion that someone is physically attractive, fine. Calling them ugly is another matter.

No, there doesn't have to be someone taking "a shot" at another person's appearance. I realize that there will be, because people are shallow douchebags (in general, even more so on the interwebz), but there really doesn't have to be.

The problem is not necessarily every single little comment either, but the fact that they tend to derail the discussion until everyone is just talking about the potential attractiveness of the woman at hand.

The ladies in this thread raised some other important points.
