Love the band and really looking forward to this, BUT can't help feeling that it is looking a little lazy. A 10 track album and the rest filled with song already available on the Q album and some pointless commentry tracks.

This has taken a little fire out of my anticipation.:noidea:

What the hell they're doing ! Lana del Ray, Enrique Iglesias and Xzibit ?! someone shut down this band,

This is the same feeling when I saw the title of David Guetta´s cover Titanium, "damn!" - I said - "what the hell with this guys!".But then I heard it and quite enjoyed it.

I wish these covers are at least this way.

I couldn't agree more with you. Exactly my thoughts.
At first I was like "18 songs! Cool!" and then "waaait a sec...". Hope it's worth it though, I really like the feat with Tarja.

Seems to me like they are going mainstream as much as possible.

The Xzibit feature is a pretty odd choice, but I am a fan of Xzibit's work so that should be interesting. I don't normally listen to these guys but I'll be checking that song out for sure.

*sigh* Everybody criticizing the album without even listening to it. Yes, only 10 songs, but in a total of 50 minutes, how can that be short and "lazy"? And what's the problem with including a hip hop star? Of course you're not gonna like the album, you already hate if before it comes out :/

After first listen I just can confirm my previous opinion that WT is a band which you can't compare in time. All of their albums are very different and very well written and played in it's own way. "Hydra" is no exception. Amazing combination of "The Unforgiving" and "The silent force" with lots of new elements. The sound is still heavy, despite some poppy arrangement here and there. We have even growls in "Silver moonlight", which bring us back to Mother earth times.

And then we have Xzibit. The biggest mystery and discussions topic in all pre release period. And what a song it is!!! One of the best WT have ever written, where Xzibit not only don't ruin the song, but even make it much better and fit it perfectly. There will definitely be an argument stating that Xzibit is just in sake of popularity and mainstream audience, but that's wrong. If that would be the case, then rap part would be somewhere in the songs middle and very short, just so it be there. But it's not the case. "And we run" and Xzibit flows naturally. If you delete rap part, the song will loose it's spirit. It's another proof of WT capability of writing different songs equally great.

Actually all songs with guests are amazing, and thats a stone to all those, who was winning that there are only 10 songs, and 4 of them with guest singers.

So all in all it is amazing record. WT did it again!

That still doesn't explain why they called a personality like Xzibit.
Ok, let's suppose that comes from a purely artistic stand and they honestly intended for a rap section in one of their songs... why not call another rapper? Maybe someone from their home country or another artist that somehow shares common ground with their music style. I don't believe that the thought of the controversy this would cause has NEVER crossed their minds.
Then again, if they admire Xzibit for whatever reason (or the other way around) and they really wanted to collaborate in a song, of course there's no problem with that. But I'd find that weird.

I can honestly say, that band from phenomenal "Mother Earth" is officially dead

Probably one of my favourite tracks on the album and I'm not even into rap, it takes a lot for me to bear it, let alone like it.

Even if you ignore the rap section (which I feel is totally out of place and awkward), the song does not have much going for it. A simple and uninteresting piano chord, an synth orchestra section that tries to create an 'epic' feeling with minimal effort, a vocalist that does little to distinguish herself from the thousands of other pop artists, and the guitars and drums (the, you know, metal parts) are so pointless that you can take them out of the song and no one will probably notice.

Oh c'mon. Yes it's ultra accessible nad catchy and pretty simple, but it sounds awesome if you look at it alone. ust leave WT's past behind and look at this album as a newcomers. Still amazing songwriting, performance, etc. Thereąs everything ok with our minds, but I am tired of starting another "open-minded" discussion.

The first 3 songs are heartbreakingly bad

And what was the point of featuring Tarja on a song when all she does is sing in a typical pop-ish way?

She doesn't add anything to the song. adding her seems like just a publicity stunt.

I don't get what people are so fussed about. WT has been pretty pop-like for quite a long time and to be fair, Sharon would make a great pop singer. I see no problems with it.

I don't see Sharon twerking around like Miley did.

To make things clear - I am not speaking of Sharon or any other WT musician, but about very low level of music created by this band especially on new album.

If they really whish to be pop stars, then they should change genre of music.
