Whispered - Shogunate Macabre
Finnish metal with Eastern Folk influences, yes please! I sense Wintersun, Children of Bodom and Chthonic touches throughout, maybe it's just me though. Overall so damn enjoyable for someone that's a melodic death metal fan.

Babymetal - Babymetal
Engrossed with this at the moment; I love Japanese films and culture itself. Sure this is some sort of manufactured gimmick but still insanely catchy, fun and adventurous, delving into j-pop, death, power, thrash, djent, techno, industrial, dubstep, rap and more. Fuck guilty pleasures, this is an audio pleasure.

My mind can't help but look at how much attention the new Behemoth album is getting, but this is will likely get swept under the rug of the collective metal community. Progressive Blackened Metal with lovely experimental-like touches throughout.

What a debut album from the Netherlands. Catchy, melodic and atmospherically ambient. Gives me the same excitement as when Enshine's "Origin" album came out, oozing with mood and soothing tones.

Structural Disorder - The Edge Of Sanity
"Tells the story of a man who suffers from a severe psychosis after finding out that he is about to become a father for the first time in his life. The psychosis manifests itself as a voice that commands the man to kill his pregnant wife and his unborn child. After committing this crime the man ends up at a closed ward where he only has got himself, his questions and his memory gaps to accompany him. During sessions together with a psychiatrist his memories slowly start to return and the man realizes more and more what he actually has done.

You're a metal listening machine. You've listened to more albums in two entire months than I listened to all of last year.
Great stuff. I'll have to check this out more!

Thank You,
I make sure I give myself time to be creative (I write, other projects, etc.) daily. During that time music is my soundtrack. For a few years (2010-2012ish) I got away from browsing for new music and keeping updated on my favorite bands. I think that was a stagnate period in my life. So with this newly allotted time to listen to music I thought I'd present what I'm listening to with others. I think my 2014 list will be a lot more vast and invested than 2013 (which I recently uploaded, check it out). So thanks again, talk to you more as 2014 progresses.

Hello,
I'll try to add what I think of each album if I get a chance, even it's just a passing sentence or an interesting thought. The thing with genre's is I think they either lure a mind into pre-conceived notions or push someone away in a subliminal judgmental way from checking it out. I'm not huge into raw black metal, drone, shoegaze or leathercore for example so when I see that I tend to shy away from it. I'd rather see someones excitement or passion for a band/album/song and follow along with them down that path. I also think the genre's wars I see throughout the metal community builds barriers and immature and needless arguments among listeners instead of unity and intelligent conversations. That being said hopefully you'll get a good feel and about each album based off any anecdote I give, thank you for your interest.

Dang dude.

You bag out my list for having Hirax and Primal Fear in my top albums of 2014 but you have Babymetal?!?

Perhaps you have me confused with someone else? I have not commented on your list. I'm assuming bag was meant to be bug though. And I'm sure Babymetal will fall in my list but I order it by what I'm listening to at the moment and enjoying the most. I'm sure the album will get a lot of hate. My description explains why I'm a fan though.

Indeed I had you confused with Divergenceless who posted on mine and was also the first poster on yours. Hence he comes up as originator of thread which I mistook for originator of list.

Big apologies from moi!

It's cool, I figured it was mistaken identities . Enjoy the list

Yes! The hate of Babymetal is really humorous to me. Honestly they sound like no one else, especially the live show. I've learned metalheads just complain about every day thing.

I plan to check them out soon. AE has been one of my fav bands since around like '98 so I suppose that would happen, was nice to see something new elements mixed in. I see how people see the genre getting stale but MDM is one of my favorites. It's like good food. Doesn't get old.

Thanks for the comment.
