1. Buckethead - Pikes 42-129
2. Vader - Tibi Et Igni
3. Mors Principium Est - Dawn Of The 5th Era
4. Delain - The Human Contradiction
5. Insomnium - Shadows Of The Dying Sun
6. Archspire - The Lucid Collective
7. Major Parkinson - Twilight Cinema
Like a Diablo Vulture Orchestra Industries stripped down but still dark
8. Whispered - Shogunate Macabre
Finnish metal with Eastern Folk influences, yes please! I sense Wintersun, Children of Bodom and Chthonic touches throughout, maybe it's just me though. Overall so damn enjoyable for someone that's a melodic death metal fan.
9. Misery Index - The Killing Gods
10. The Haunted - Exit Wounds
11. Demon Hunter - Extremist
12. Arch Enemy - War Eternal
13. Raunchy - Vices.Virtues.Visions.
14. Babymetal - Babymetal
Engrossed with this at the moment; I love Japanese films and culture itself. Sure this is some sort of manufactured gimmick but still insanely catchy, fun and adventurous, delving into j-pop, death, power, thrash, djent, techno, industrial, dubstep, rap and more. Fuck guilty pleasures, this is an audio pleasure.
15. Nothgard - Age Of Pandora
16. Sanctuary - The Year The Sun Died
17. Evergrey - Hymns For The Broken
18. Machinae Supremacy - Phantom Shadow
19. At The Gates - At War With Reality
20. Nightingale - Retribution
21. Ghost Brigade - IV - One With The Storm
22. Septicflesh - Titan
23. Aenaon - Extance
My mind can't help but look at how much attention the new Behemoth album is getting, but this is will likely get swept under the rug of the collective metal community. Progressive Blackened Metal with lovely experimental-like touches throughout.
24. Raubtier - Pansargryning
25. Xerath - III
26. Decapitated - Blood Mantra
27. Terracide - Existence Asunder
28. Helevorn - Compassion Forlorn

33. Anubis Gate - Horizons
34. Eluveitie - Origins
35. Engel - Raven Kings
36. Shylmagoghnar - Emergence
What a debut album from the Netherlands. Catchy, melodic and atmospherically ambient. Gives me the same excitement as when Enshine's "Origin" album came out, oozing with mood and soothing tones.
37. Equilibrium - Erdentempel
38. Descend - Wither
39. Human Debris - Wrought From Anguish
40. Words Of Farewell - The Black Wild Yonder
Melodic death metal. My favorite dish. These Germans know how to write it. Superb production and touches of introspective more softer themes (for metal) fit their album, cover and band name
41. Infestum - Monuments Of Exalted
42. Big Elf - Into the Maelstrom
43. Destiny Potato - Lun
44. Inanimate Existence - Never-Ending Cycle Of Atonement

53. Hoth - Oathbreaker
54. Ever Since - Bring Out The Gimp
55. Soilwork - Beyond The Infinite
56. Inferi - The Path Of Apotheosis
A superb blend of catchy riffs and pulse pounding rhythms, when you need your speed fix this will do. Nice to see bands from Nashville breaking the mold and blazing against the grain.
57. Allegaeon - Elements Of The Infinite
58. Tuomas Holopainen - A Lifetime Of Adventure
59. Crematory - Antiserum
60. Voyager - V
61. Lascaille's Shroud - Interval 02: Parallel Infinities - The Abscinded Universe

66. Virgin Snatch - We Serve No One
67. Ludicrous - Altar Boy Discocult
68. Hannes Grossmann - The Radial Covenant
69. Kampfar - Djevelmakt

71. Triptykon - Melana Chasmata
72. Agalloch - The Serpent & The Sphere
73. Rise Of Avernus - L'Appel Du Vide
74. Vanden Plas - Chronicles Of The Immortals: Netherworld (Path 1)
Another excellent release, on first listen doesn't sound as amazing as Seraphic or Christ 0

77. Casualities of Cool - Casualities of Cool
78. Pain Of Salvation - Falling Home

81. Epitimia - (Un)reality
This double album has enthralled me with all that there is to uncover
82. Tengger Cavalry - Ancient Call
Pagan Folk Black Metal from Beijing (Todays beneficiary is the incarnation of his preexisting well-doer; the fate of ones next existence lies in his existence today)
83. Skyharbor - Guiding Lights
84. Separatist - Closure
85. Xandria - Sacrificium
86. Abysmal Torment - Cultivate the Aposta

92. Sanctorium - The Depths Inside
93. The Seer - Prologue
94. Escapethecult - All You Want To
95. The Room Colored Charlatan - Primitives
96. Framework - A World Distorted
These New Jersey guys made some great metal that sounds like it's from late 90's Sweden. Yes melodic death metal. But this feeds my insatiable needs for it.
97. Woe Unto Me - A Step Into The Waters Of Forgetfulness
98. Benevolent - The Covenant
99. Transatlantic - Kaleidoscope
Winery Dogs, now this? Portnoy is on a roll.
100. Adrenaline Mob - Men Of Honor
Russell Allen's vocals simply put, fucking rock.
101. Structural Disorder - The Edge Of Sanity
"Tells the story of a man who suffers from a severe psychosis after finding out that he is about to become a father for the first time in his life. The psychosis manifests itself as a voice that commands the man to kill his pregnant wife and his unborn child. After committing this crime the man ends up at a closed ward where he only has got himself, his questions and his memory gaps to accompany him. During sessions together with a psychiatrist his memories slowly start to return and the man realizes more and more what he actually has done.

114. Edguy - Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown
115. Hour Of Penance - Regicide
116. Behemoth - The Satanist
Enjoyable and it's great to see Nergal back but it feels like it's getting overexposed. The 1-2-3 punch Thelema 6, Zos Kia Cultus and Demigod that got me into the band and able to see them a bunch as they toured the USA seems to be giving me that flat feeling on them lately.
117. Thyrien - Hymns of the Mortals

197. Burzum - The Ways Of Yore
198. The Unguided - Fragile Immortality
I would enjoy this sooo much more without the Atreyu-like strained vomit vocals.

Thank You,
I make sure I give myself time to be creative (I write, other projects, etc.) daily. During that time music is my soundtrack. For a few years (2010-2012ish) I got away from browsing for new music and keeping updated on my favorite bands. I think that was a stagnate period in my life. So with this newly allotted time to listen to music I thought I'd present what I'm listening to with others. I think my 2014 list will be a lot more vast and invested than 2013 (which I recently uploaded, check it out). So thanks again, talk to you more as 2014 progresses.

Hello,
I'll try to add what I think of each album if I get a chance, even it's just a passing sentence or an interesting thought. The thing with genre's is I think they either lure a mind into pre-conceived notions or push someone away in a subliminal judgmental way from checking it out. I'm not huge into raw black metal, drone, shoegaze or leathercore for example so when I see that I tend to shy away from it. I'd rather see someones excitement or passion for a band/album/song and follow along with them down that path. I also think the genre's wars I see throughout the metal community builds barriers and immature and needless arguments among listeners instead of unity and intelligent conversations. That being said hopefully you'll get a good feel and about each album based off any anecdote I give, thank you for your interest.

Dang dude.

You bag out my list for having Hirax and Primal Fear in my top albums of 2014 but you have Babymetal?!?

Perhaps you have me confused with someone else? I have not commented on your list. I'm assuming bag was meant to be bug though. And I'm sure Babymetal will fall in my list but I order it by what I'm listening to at the moment and enjoying the most. I'm sure the album will get a lot of hate. My description explains why I'm a fan though.

Indeed I had you confused with Divergenceless who posted on mine and was also the first poster on yours. Hence he comes up as originator of thread which I mistook for originator of list.

Big apologies from moi!

It's cool, I figured it was mistaken identities . Enjoy the list

Yes! The hate of Babymetal is really humorous to me. Honestly they sound like no one else, especially the live show. I've learned metalheads just complain about every day thing.

I plan to check them out soon. AE has been one of my fav bands since around like '98 so I suppose that would happen, was nice to see something new elements mixed in. I see how people see the genre getting stale but MDM is one of my favorites. It's like good food. Doesn't get old.

Thanks for the comment.
