when I think of songs about winter - I think of Immortal's 'At The Heart Of Winter' - so that would be my choice! of them songs up there, I would pick either Dragonforce, Wintersun or Frosty The Snowman! but I am not a huge huge fan of any of them..

Of the ones on that list, I'd have to go for Wintersun's 'Winter Madness'. I don't know if it's my favourite, there are a crapload of other awesome songs that come to mind too (e.g. Darkthrone - Hans Siste Vinter, Immortal - At the Heart of Winter, Nokturnal Mortum - And Winter Becomes, Sentenced - Awaiting the Winter Frost, and many others), but it's the best on that list.

Without a doubt, Kiuas - Accross the snow, one of my all time favorite Kiuas song! Wintersun's Winter madness is awesome too.. I don't really rate music by the theme of their lyrics but few other winter related songs i really really love that i can remember right now are Elvenking's The Winter Wake, Amorphis' Black Winter Day and Blind Guardian's Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns).

I'm jumping on the Immortal bandwagon... "At the Heart of Winter", "Antarctica", et all. I, too, voted for Frosty the NecroGrimSnowDemon in the poll.

09.03.2007 - 23:03 Written by Bad English on 09.03.2007 at 20:57 as the song title says, it's winter related as they uses winter as a metaphora. Secondly, as far as I know, Beyond the Ice is instrumental so i don't know how that could be more about winter than a song that has a word winter in it's title.. or maybe you meant 'Under the Ice' from A Night At the Opera, which is, as much, or as little like you'd say about winter as Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns).

09.03.2007 - 23:19 Written by Angelique on 09.03.2007 at 23:03 If we talk about Metaphora - Iron Maiden - 'Mother Russia' I doubt if all understand all this song and idea of it, but I can imagine those cold winters when was tsar(dunno how spell) and early Russia empire before Lenin and USSR well IM write good songs and poetical lyrics about history, but IMO you guess what I mean by this and winter About BG well 'Beyond the Ice' are good song and i like it About Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns) well Miror, Mirror and Time Stand Still.......... those songs are so great that others fall out of album

Once again I don't get your point, Noldor (Dead Winter Reign) lyrics talk about winter, icy cold winter with snow and all, the story of the song just isn't about winter.. "We were lost On grinding ice In fear and hunger Dead winter reigned In Araman" And you still didn't explain how an earth you think an instrumental is ONLY BG song about winter, how the hell you even know what the song is about when there isn't lyrics

09.03.2007 - 23:59 Written by Angelique on 09.03.2007 at 23:41 But IMO instrumental songs can be about winter if title are about wonter and I understand now that song, But now Im listen My Dying Bride - 'Snow on My Hands' well seems doom bands can make songs about winter more peotical how others, also black and power

It's obviously Frost The Snowman! My vote goes to Winter Madness, becuase I love Wintersun and the guitars and vocals are really good, not to mention that there are even blast-beats in the song, which makes it all the more better. The sweeping solo is really what does it for me, though.

From that list, definitely Winter Madness by Wintersun. It's just full of energy, great vocals, melodies and drumming. However, generally Immortal have the best songs about winter as already mentioned (At The Heart Of Winter, Antarctica etc). Amorphis' Black Winter Day is also another very good song.

I voted for Wintersun - Winter Madness but if the option was there I also would have chosen Immortals - At the Heart of Winter because that is easily the best song about winter out there. The riffs in the song are so intense.

20.03.2007 - 11:57 Written by Baz Anderson on 09.03.2007 at 11:34 Without doubt!! At the Heart of Winter The most coldest wintery song around.. You just can't not think of winter.. I was surprised that it wasn't on the list.. Clear winner for me. Anyway I voted for Arcturus - Winter Grey more for the sake of it..

It is obvious Immortal should be in this poll.. more winter than them isn't possible. As far as the songs on that list, obviously Luca Turilli for me. Actually, that song is my favourite song of his solo project, so that makes it definitely a winner for me

I haven't heard all the songs from the list, I won't vote. But I have two favourite winter songs, not on the list: 1. Satyricon Min hyllest til vinterland So damn beautiful and emotional. I can really feel the cold from the song and it's a very sad tune too. 2. Celtic Frost Triptych: Winter (Requiem, Chapter Three: Finale) Very very sad orchestral part of one of the best songs ever made, it's quiet and really has that doomy feeling every winter song must have IMO.

Of course I vote for Wintermadness, good lyric, solo and melody. Really wonder why so there're not many voting,... @Warman, I haven't had a chance to get that song of Satyricon, I will find it soon, heard it from Dark Medieval Times, a really good rated album.

06.04.2007 - 07:51 Written by Warman on 20.03.2007 at 19:49 Whoah, good thinking! That's probably my favourite 'wintery' song, too - such a grim, cold atmosphere. Of the available options, though, it's a toss-up between 'Wintry Grey' and 'Winter Madness'. The latter isn't especially 'cold', but it's a rad song with an untouchable solo, so it's won my vote.

Like the others said, At The Heart of Winter is really the best winter song. Quite a few of Immortal's songs are wintery actually. You really are at the heart of a cold heartless winter when you listen to that track though!

Where did you got idea to start topic like this anyway?? Anyway, from the list I would vote for Luca Turilli's The Age of Mystic Ice, really great song, there are many great songs about winter, and luca Turilli owns many of them... Amon Amarth's Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter is also awesome.... My favorites are Cradle Of Filth - Queen Of Winter - Throned My Dying Bride - Two Winters Only
