Have you, like me, returned to bands that at a time ceased to go rounds in your CD player, computer, Ipod (they suck so hard), etc.? It is not as if we have rejected them entirely, but more like letting them rest a little or pushing them temporarily to the side by focusing in other bands. It has happened to me, mostly with ancient bands. For example, I stopped from listening Sepultura for a while, but when I entered this website, having all these people talking about them made me go to my CD tower and pick up their works again. It is like reviving those bands. Also, it has happened to me with a new release from those "sleeping" bands which puts me in a position of remembering their previous works in order to appreciate their new material.

So, in this thread you can tell us if this has happened to you. Have you revisited the albums of bands which you kind of neglected in time? Which bands are those? What got you into reviving those bands?

Well some I just happen to forget about when new stuff comes in
Also, I tend to listen to a CD round and round when I first buy it (if I like it, obviously), until I am either sick of it, or fall for something new.

Since I listen to most metal genres, I easily Ignore some bands, even genres for a while and then come back.

Yes, it's happened to me. Now that you mention Sepultura I think I should go and listen to them. I haven't given them a listen in close to a year now. No joke.

I've been neglecting a fair bit of power metal, admittedly. I just got a little tired of it. I revisted my Sonata Arctica 'Silence' album and love it. It was spinning in the CD player for a fair amount of time on Monday. Also, I've been listening to Stratovarius' 'Episode', yet another awesome album I owed a listen to.

Same here. I hadn't listened to much 80's Maiden for ages. I listened to Seventh Son recently and remembered how great an album it is!

Yes, Children Of Bodom have been pushed aside by me for a while now actually. I give them a listen every now and then, mainly their live album. But eh they're just kind of a same old, same old band after a while. But Alexi keeps me coming back, the man is a beast.

All the time. Wintersun for example, I really got sick of it for a while, and after some time of 'rest' I like them again.

Hi my dear , nice thread and I love your Mana avatar .. he is so great .. so yeah back to the topic uhmmm it has happen a little but is not because I got sick of them , is because I have busy life that sometimes doesn't let me concentrate on the oldies more ... Like my old cd's a stuff because well I guess most of us mainly look for new stuff but I think we shouldn't forget our roots and remember the old bands ....

Yeah this kind of thing happens to me too. It's only because I own so many cds that some don't get listened to in months. For example, I haven't listened to Children of Bodom in a long time. It's not because I hate children of bodom, but there is just so much more that I have and really prefer to listen to at this point in time.

Happens to me a lot. I shunned Sonata Arctica for about a year, sadly. No wonder I was so depressed...I had nothing "happy" to listen to.

I always listen to bands like Porcupine Tree, Pelican, Isis, and other wierd bands for awhile then never listen to them for long periods of time after. I also tend to do this with older stuff that way I have more time to check out new albums.

Oh, I thought this thread was about when bands come back after ages of not doing anything.

Well, I don't really find this for me. I do usually get around to listening to bands after a while. If I don't listen to a favourite band, it's not because I've stopped liking them, it's just that I know that they're great and there is a lot of stuff to listen to, lol. And I still always will listen to old stuff. I do understand what you mean though, that that could happen when you haven't listened to something in that long. Did you mean about their old stuff that you were re-listening to, or you'd started listening to their new stuff?

That´s also happened to me, specially with Dream Theater. I stop listening to them, and then for some reason I can´´s stop listening to them. It´s wierd but kinda cool, somehow when you listen to them after a while they sound better

This rarely happens to me because for some reasone I cannot get sick of music that I have liked within the past 2 or 3 years, so the only reason for this happening to me is if I forget about a band. Bands like that are Blind Guardian, Anthrax, Dream Theater. The only band which I am actually sick of is Nirvana, I listened to them too much, and their shit just got boring, which is surprising for me because I listen to a lot of damn music..

I took on the task of reviving Metal Storm threads a minute ago [had it in perspective for a month or so ], If you're reading this, I means that this thread was on of the trve General Metal Forum threads that nearly hit rock-bottom [a thread could only hit rock bottom if them vntrve threads that IMO don't really belong in the GMF got removed by some miracle]
***

Hell, I can't even name all the bands I should keep listening to but am not. Bands like Katatonia, Graveworm, Tristania, Lake Of Tears... I think I'll be a frequent poster in this thread, right now I gotta finish this post and get my Sentenced discography back LOL [havent heard them in like 7 months or so]

Despite it bieng a revival, I'll answer it normally...

Yeah happens to me too alot. I stopped listening to Hammerfall and other power metal bands completely, and whenever I go back to it I fall in love with it again. Freedom Call is a great example, as is Hammerfall. I've yet to go back to Sonata Arctica, maybe I should soonish.

it is happening to me, and this is because of the fucking internet. I discover bands daily, and there are some that I really enjoy, so I listen to them for a while, putting a side all my old favs. Just recently I re-visited The 3rd And The Mortal and Riverside, and I'm certain that I do have a good taste, just not enough time to listen to everything, and the oportunity to do it simultaniuosly.

some bands I have to pick up in the near future are Peste Noire, Opeth, Mystic Forest, Agathodaimon and In The Woods.

well for the longest time i was into power metal and specifically blind guardian. but i got sick of power metal and could only listen to bands like behemoth, vader, pretty much anything really heavy and angry. but this past fall, my friend was telling me blind guardian was playing in atlanta so i decided i would go. and to prepare i got out their old albums and realised, holy shit, i still like them. and then after seeing how amazing they were live, i am right back on the band wagon lol

I listened Iron Maiden after very long time, I almost forget about them and now I am going to see them alive so I wanted to hear all Iron Maiden songs, but even now I am not listening to them like before. One band I really neglected for some time was Mayhem, after reading some posts here I decided to play some old Mayhem albums, I also listened Ravishing Greamness and Ablaze in The Northern Sky after very long time, and only because I bought The Cult Is Alive album. Some bands I never listen at home, but I hear them every night in the pub so I don't miss them at all (Metallica, Kreator, Pantera...)

It's happened to me with Primal Fear. When I first heard them a few years ago they sounded a bit ordinary to me. Seemed too much like Judas Priest and Helloween and just didn't appear very unique to me. However a few months ago I picked up "Black Sun" again to give it another listen and I was just amazed by it. I couldn't believe that I didn't get into them earlier They've quickly risen to my favourite bands and I just have not been able to stop listening to them.

It happends to me all the time. I can still remember how much I loved Apocalyptica, Agalloch, Burzum, Saturnus,... but in time I just didn't listen to them anymore. Well, couple of days ago it happened that I played Apocalyptica, I hope that I'll listen to other bands soon too.
