Moonspell - Cancel Two Mexican Shows

Moonspell have cancelled their Mexican shows in Chihuahua and Merida. According to the band's statement, which you can read below, the promoters are to blame for this unfortunate event, but the band will play tonight at Hell And Heaven Festival in Mexico City.

Moonspell announcement as it appears on their Instagram page:

"CANCELLATION: The Chihuahua and Merida shows are cancelled.

"Moonspell has traveled to Mexico City in order to fulfill their contractual obligations and of course play to the fans over there but the promoter for these shows made it impossible and unilaterally canceled the events. This is a big stain in this wonderful tour and we are sorry that it had to be Mexico, one of our favorite crowds and country.

"Blu Concerts and Gravis Records didn't fulfill their part of the deal and alleged many 'different' things for cancelling the shows in Chihuahua and Merida, ignoring completely our alternatives to play both shows and of course the many miles we traveled from Chile in order to be here in time for the flights to Chihuahua. We are desolate this has happened to us and our fans but we can't deal with these kind of promoters anymore that give the whole Mexican scene a bad name.

"Also we had a terrible time at the Mexican customs, with unprofessional people going through all our stuff, disrespecting the legality and professionalism of our band and crew. We never felt so unwelcome in Mexico like tonight. It makes it hard for us to plan more comebacks for Mexico when the reality is that there's a lot to catch up if Mexico wants to treat visitors the right way.

"As always we urge all bands, professional agents and fans not to support or participate in any activities related to this promoter. See you in HELL AND HEAVEN! We will be back in Mexico City for a clubshow in December and a big show in Guadalajara, more news on this soon. Viva México!"

Promoters screwing things over. We've had similar problems here, but less now, luckily.

I remember a festival in Lisbon specifically where almost all the bands promised didn't show up because none of them were paid.

Blu concerts said the venue (a theater in Chiihuahua) cancelled at last minute because of "bureaucratic reasons", but it was very unprofessional for them to cancel the show the very same day it was suposed to happen. A shame for the Chihuahua fans and for those who had planned to travel here just to see that show. Hopefully Blu concerts can redeem themselves with the upcoming Gorgoroth tour which is also supposed to come to Chihuahua.
