Good softer intro riff, then band lost it self somehow.

Not much to say: it's their style. I would even say that's above average for them, but nothing revolutionary...

I feel like a lot of their newer albums would be better as instrumentals. Their tracks always start off with some great ideas, but then just devolve into Alissa trying to sound as br00tal as possible for 4 minutes.

Really underwhelming track, I hope the rest of the album won't suck as much

I agree with you, and more variations in vocal style would benefit them imo.

I find this band entirely unappealing. It feels like I'm missing out though. Have they always been like this?

EDIT: Jeff Fucking Loomis is in Arch Enemy? That makes it worse for me. I loved Nevermore...

no, this band has gone through 3 vocalists and changes with each one
first album with the new one is somewhat similar to what they did with the previous one, a kind of transition, from the second one on it"s like a different band, so i"d recommend you try their first 4

The album cover reminds of Kiss' ''Crazy Nights'' album cover xD,anyways the song is not bad yet average and uninspired... For some reason i cant get into AE's newer stuff i find 'em generic af.
