You know the drill, recommend me good metal stuff from 2017. Remember this is not a playlist or promotion place, it should be stuff you have HEARD ATLEAST ONCE which means it is not just stuff YOU think is good but something that OTHERS should find good and enjoy as well.

Death metal from Portugal. Sounds more closely to Disma than anything else to my ears. Quite melodic and groovy. It's hard to judge anything from a single but yeah this seems like something that is worth keeping an eye on.

Not sure if someone posted this already, however its decent fast atmo-black. Their debut was solid so if you like this one youll probably like the debut as well.

A bunch of cool people I know made a well good EP. Hard to pigeonhole it to be honest, heavy and dense, and also floaty and light experimentalisms. Definitely has a metal backbone but goes well beyond it too.

New Twinesuns single out finally. Sick drone doom with weird atmospheric effects.

Full stream

Thanks God this did not disappoint.
I'm already calling it one of the best drone records ever. Very original and varied. I love how dynamic this thing is.

According to their Facebook, Mosaic are turning their 2014 EP into a full length next year, en extra 32 minutes of material. The EP actually sounds great; they seem very forthright about describing it as experimental black metal, which while might not be true, it's super high quality and mixed heavily with ambient and neofolk components and dripping with atmosphere. The EP art is way cooler though.

Mosaic - Old Man's Wyntar
Track from the new chapter here

This is probably the best album Ive heard in over a year. Anyone not allergic to folky stuff should get on it asap. The sound is not that experimental though, its quite traditional but its epicness is just epic.

Some quite accurate AFoS worship. The vocalist sounds just like the same. (might as well actually be the same, didn't check =p)
Ashenspire - Speak Not of the Laudanum Quandary

Awesome, been waiting for this ever since they released this single from it way back in 2015. This should be great.

Written by 3rdWorld on 15.01.2017 at 06:54

This is good stuff. Defo reminds me of AFoS.

It looks the whole thing is out now :3

And https://ashenspire.bandcamp.com/album/speak-not-of-the-laudanum-quandary-2

Not a big fan of AFoS and tbh I couldnt tell the difference between this and them. Sounds like very good stuff though for fans.

Nasty blackened death metal debut demo from Sangue, a band from Rome.

Sangue - Sangue

Another great black/death debut full length from this US band.

Harvest Gulgaltha - Altars Of Devotion

Belgian black/death debut. Ridiculously buzzy guitar sound. Not as the good as the above ones though.

Perverted Ceremony - Sabbat Of Behezaël

Irish old school blackened doomened deathened thrash.

Apostate Viaticum - Before the Gates of Gomorrah

Good death/black metal. This has nice riffs and is slightly dsbm-ish too.

Nan Elmoth - Void Serpent

Another black/death piece released by Invictus Productions/Dark Descent Records. Debut album by this San Diego band.

Ascended Dead - Abhorrent Manifestation

This Australian black/death band's debut ep. They claim to have members of Impetuous Ritual but couldn't find who exactly it is, so could be the Portal guys too.

Consummation - Ritual Severance

Blut aus Nord were once going to do a split with Rebirth of Nefast. Shame they didn't as they definitely have a great sound going on. The first half of that song sounds pretty Ruins of Beverast-y to me.

Nice psychedelic/dissonant avantgarde black which is actually avantgarde in the sense it doesn't really sound like the same as the others

Melodic black/death from Germany. Could say almost there is little to nil black elements most of the time. The one track streaming is kinda too generic but the artwork kinda draws you to it.

Nyktophobia - Fallen Empire

A Be'lakor rip-off but I'm liking it.

Damn good doom cover EP, with not only a great artwork but an elegant as fuck band logo too. Really heavy, almost drone-like at times, but having dissonant elements and highly detailed and dense sound despite their cover-nature. Mixed by Mories and Mastered by James Plotkin for some added muscle. They own both covers imo, the Sabbath one in particular.

The cover-ep is great. But the album from 2015 is even better. My favourite band at the moment, and Brazils only good band

Before this year I probably couldn't name a single band I've liked from Brazil but quite a few have popped up this year. Heavenless (which I suspect won't be your thing), Chant Of The Goddess and Paquetá, a really good surf punk band. Actually there was Metá Metá from last year too but I'm not sure how to describe their sound. Great stuff though.

This could be massive. Black/death metal from Australia. The one track streaming right now sounds like Portal with cleaner production but since murky production is all that is about Portal so yeah this could atleast turn out a good extreme metal record. Will have to wait for the full thing and see.
