I'll start by pasting my last message in the old thread:
I saw Behemoth, Kataklysm, Aborted and Lyfthrasyr on Sunday.
As I may write a report about this one, I won't say much. Just that Kataklysm, and above all Behemoth, were amazing. Really. Absolutely amazing. I've been blown away, even if it was the third time this year I was seeing Behemoth live (after the No Mercy fest and the Hellfest). But, as headliners, they are even better.
Ok, I'll just give you the setlists of the last two bands, for those who care
Setlist Kataklysm:
Like Angels (Weeping The Dark)
Let Them Burn
Ambassador Of Pain
The Resurrected
Crippled & Broken
Serenity In Fire
1999:6661:2000
Where The Enemy Sleeps...
Beyond Salvation
As I Slither
Face The Face Of War
Manipulator Of Souls
In Shadows And Dust
Setlist Behemoth:
Rome 64 C.E.
Slaying The Prophets Of Isa
Antichristian Phenomenon
Demigod
From The Pagan Vastlands
Prometherion
Conquer All
Christgrinding Avenue
Drum Solo
Slaves Shall Serve
As Above So Below
Summoning Of the Ancient Gods
Christians To The Lions
Decade Of Therion
Chant For Eschaton 2000
Encore:
I Got Erection (Turbonegro cover)
To reply to another post in the old thread, both bands played approximately 75 minutes.
Next to come is Enslaved and Keep Of Kalessin tomorrow

Last night - Overkill North American Tour HMP These guys are probably the best new thrash band out there, and they're still brand new. They only played four songs, but they played every song from their brand new EP, which they gave away for free to people who bought tickets from them, and they were just fucking amazing high energy, inspired thrash. Some of the band members were even in the pit during the other bands. Epicurean eh they were pretty gay - I was drunk and I thought they were Warbringer, so when I heard the keyboards and clean singing I was like, "damn Warbringer sold out fast". lol Warbringer Just as expected, this band was solid as well. They opened up with Total War, and the only other songs I can really remember (I was really drunk) were Instruments of Torture and a brand new song, which is fast as fuck. Overkill I was telling my friends that these guys are really midpaced and there wouldn't be any moshing - it would be more like us relaxing after the Warbringer pit. But no, I couldn't have been more wrong. Overkill was nothing but blast beats and groove, and even though I didn't recognize many of the songs that they played, they put on one of the best performances I've seen. The songs that I think I remember them playing are the fuck you song, Thanx for Nothin', Elimination, Hello From the Gutter, a handful of tracks from Immortalis, and more (wow I'm really lame for not remembering more lmao). Elimination was the best song of the night - instead of that stupid high pitched "E!" that Bobby does on CD, he just fucking screamed his brains out while everyone else did the group singing. They played for almost two hours! My ears are ringing sooo bad

Shining! I wrote a SMALL review in 'Schwerte, Germany' in the Events Forum. It was actually the 'Devil's Revenge Festival', but I was mostly there for Shining. Setherial is good and all, but not too impressive live! If you want to know set list or any of that I guess you can look the thread up can't you ! It was an awesome show though...

Porcupine Tree It was yesterday and it was beautiful. Small crowded room, surprising setlist, great performance from the band, great connection betweeen the audience and the band. A truly unique moment. It was also the first show I ever attended alone, that made the whole experience even better. I think that t o enjoy a band like Porcupine Tree I needed to be alone, it's too personal to be sharing it with everyone else. Although some guys started to talk to me and it was fun in the end. I geniunely felt people were there in the right mood to pay respect to this band that has more than 15 years of existence. I was impressed because some concerts can be so cold, but this one was warm. The sound was good I thought. I bought a great shirt to mark the occasion and now I want to see them again next year. Highlight: "sleep of no dreamingr" and "strip the soul" The opening band was Pure Reason Revolution and they are pretty good. I have their album "the dark third". Although the audience wasn't very receptive and still warming-up I enjoyed their little introduction.

Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, Belphegor, The Absence Solid show, The Absence were pretty boring, but getting to see Belphegor and Ensiferum was awesome, I suppose Amon Amarth put on a fairly solid show as well. My friend spilled beer on Helmuth and a bunch of shit at the Belphegor merch stand, it was funny watching Helmuth get pissed off and swear at my friend under his breath.

Last night- Skeletonwitch I had not heard this band prior to their set, but I was pleasantly surprised. That had great energy and the vocalist sounded really good. They were much better than the band that followed. Winds of Plague Meh, whatever. It was one song for 45 minutes basically, everything sounded exactly the same. The big plus was that their keyboard was really hot. I just watched her through the set basically and king of listened to the band, who was mediocre at best. Moonspell This is who I went to see and they were great. The played mostly songs from the new album, including my personal favorite, "Spring of Rage". The played a couple for Memorial, a couple from Irreligious, and Vampiria from Wolfheart. The set had good energy and atmosphere and was just a lot of fun to watch. Dimmu Borgir By the time they were setting up my back was killing me, so I left my friends and sat down in the back to watch the show. They had Vader's drummer playing and he was really good, but unfortunately he drowned out the rest of the band. I could hear the guitars, but not as well as needed. As for the keyboardist, he might as well of stayed off stage, you couldn't hear him at all. They a lot of energy but due to the sound being so off it sounded like one long song.

The gig was very cool. the first bands were only alright (Virgin Black, Samael and two other shitty bands) but Amorphis really did great. I was suprised at a few songs they played from earlier albums. The venue wasn't packed so it wasn't intense and it was somewhat laid back. I also snagged the set list and met the guitarist from Agalloch. set list I Of Crimson Blood Leaves Scar Against Windows Into Hiding Divinity Silent Waters Alone The Smoke Tales From The North Side My Kantele House Of Sleep Magic & Mayhem Encore Towards And Against Black Winter Day

The problems you listed with Dimmu seemed to be the same problems I had with them when I saw them.

Last night Either I missed Zoroaster or they didn't show up -_- Ceremonial Castings This was my third time seeing this band and they're usually not that great live, but I like them on CD so I always give them a chance. Last night they put on their best show that I've seen, and the new songs they played sounded great, especially the clean singing, surprisingly. The stage presence was the same as always - the keyboardist wearing a dark hood and the guitarist/vocalist wearing corpse paint and using a medieval-looking microphone. I don't know how to explain it, and I know microphones weren't invented back then, but it still looked cool. Oh, and also I want to point out that the low growls were more brutal than I had remembered. Watain I was surprised at how good these guys were. The mid-paced tempos were my favorite, which made the fast parts seem all that more brutal. They didn't have any blood on stage, but they had some cool props like banners and a ton of lit candles. I was really, really drunk, but some of the songs I remember are Sworn to the Dark, Stellarvore, Storm of the Antichrist, and, the best one of the night, SATAN'S HUNGER. Fuck yes Edit: Oh yeah, and I fucking got cut off at the bar. Well, the lady friend did but we were acting fine. I don't understand...

I skipped my friend's 21st birthday to see Dying Fetus a fourth time. I'm a good friend. Keep of Kalessin I wonder how they feel getting showed up by Dying Fetus every night. Eluveitie God I can never spell their fucking name correctly. Dying Fetus They played Grotesque Impalement. Listening to them live is better than sex. KILL YOUR MOTHER, RAPE YOUR DOG KILL YOUR MOTHER, RAPE YOUR DOG KILL!! KILL!! KILL!! KILL!! Kataklysm This was also my fourth time seeing Kataklysm, and while I love them live I honestly didn't care about them after seeing Dying Fetus. Regardless, they fucking destroyed what was left of us, and even though they mostly played new songs, I was still impressed. Some of the songs I remember them playing are Prevail, Taking the World by Storm, The Chains of Power, Crippled & Broken, Slither, In Shadows and Dust, Like Angels Weeping the Dark, Manipulator of Souls, Where the Enemy Sleeps, Let Them Burn, and many more. Maurizio talked a little too much, and he informed us a few times that this was the smallest show they've played in a while, but they didn't care and would play 150% no matter how big or small the crowd was. Also, he did all the vocals - usually Jean-François does the crusty screams, but Maurizio did them both just like they sound on CD. Dying Fetus still destroyed.

HI, Getafe Electric Weekend Festival, stupid rave-like name -Spain is quite fond of these kind of festivals- for a great concert featuring among others I could not see ETHS, Mnemic, The Haunted, Soilwork, Queensryche, Within Temptation, Machine Head, Metallica and...At the gates. I discovered your web shortly after attending this concert and I wanted to write a review. However, I could watch closely any of the bands and I became so tired that I simply could not enjoy Within Temptain or Machine head, the bands I really wanted to see. I just managed to watch properly The Haunted, Soilwork and Metallica. The problem was the people. There were lots and lots of Metalheads beside the people that came to see Metallica. You can,t even move going from one scenary to the other and the mess for buying food was one of the most horrible experiences that I have standed. There were not fights or things like that, but I bought a sandwiches after half an hour pushing people and being pushed. I can,t write a review about the concert. This will be more a kind of complaint for the organizers that sold far more tickets than the site could allow. As far as I managed to understand. ETHS were great staging and I acquired everything from them after that. They are quite brutal performing and many of their members, above all the female singer, can act as frontmen connecting great with the attenders. The Haunted performed a quite clean and technical set Soilwork has one of the best performances I have seen live. Frontman is quite outstanding. Music was delivered "loud and clear". I spent the whole Queensryche concert trying to buy a sandwich. Anyways I have seen them alone just 2 months before. Within Temptation performance was astonishing and the bass player kind of led the frontman part, since he was living in Madrid during childhood and was emotional about playing live there. I could not enjoy Machine Head as it was quite crowdy in the indoor scenario. As far as I could see from the big screens and listening their music outside the indoor tent they delivered the best set in the concert being as clean, technical, melodic and brute as ever. Metallica are Metallica. At least they did not played many loads, reloads and rereloads as I thought they were going to do. I enjoyed a lot with the classics before "and justice". At the gates made a great performance making a new welcome to stages after so many waiting years.

Benediction, Holy Moses tour (Nominom support). I was managed to get on this concert in last minute...and it was definitely worth of every cent. The first band, Nominon, have quite suprised with their half-hour set of swedish death metal. And they have showed as a great support. Also the drummer of this band kicked ass the most with his killing/speedy drumming. Holy Moses has played a nice piece of set, with songs from almost evey album. The icon and the lead singer of the band Sabine still screams and growls like she never gets old. And the final and the most expected band, Benediction. The first thing I noticed at the beginning was absolutely a great communication of the band with us, the crowd. They sound realy great, the whole show was just brilliant for me. And the whole band performance was 100% given on the stage which I appriciate a lot. Although the aren't realy one of my favourite bands, I hope they will visit us soon.

Wáhhá! Ragnarök's Aaskeria was fucking awesome! I was in the 1st line during the whole concert. Gwydion was just simply good, but Svartsot and then Alestorm kicked ass! both band played their best songs. I didn't enjoy Hollenthon, there's nothing good in their music.. but in the end Tyr came and they awoke me, so all things concidered it was a great party!

Last concert was the Metal Masters tour when they played down in Connecticut. Testament, Dio, and Priest. Drove 3.5 hours, worth every second. Testament's sound was good, nice and loud, Dio was good, Priest wasn't as good as the first time I saw them but they still kicked ass. I stood up the entire show, I'm not small, 6'2'' 250lbs, but in between Dio and Priest some guy sitting behind me was like "If you're going to stand up the entire set, you and me are going to have a problem." I just said "Well then I guess we're going to have a problem, I'll never sit down for Judas fucking Priest." He left me alone after that.

Zonaria ----- Gilla Bruja I have them on the same line, because...I honestly had no clue which of them performed earlier. Both were unknown bands to me, but I loved em both. Grave I was sort of expecting more. After enjoying the two previous bands I found myself not giving a damn about this. Which was a really disappointing feeling for me, as I enjoy the band on CD. Vader The climax. Seeing the band with just a quarter of it's former self didn't phase me. The replacements were all adequate enough to put on one hell of a show. The set was nice, there were only a few songs, where I didn't know the music too well. The end put heavy strain on the neck though, with Carnal, Wings and This Is the War. Still having trouble with fast head movements, even though the concert was on Sunday. All in all, I was more satisfied with Vader during an out-door festival, but in-doors it still left a great feel.

Kind of went to this concert at the last minute, it was definitely worth the 25$. Some shitty local band I know most local bands starting out suck, but this band was particularly terrible, they sounded like a slightly more unoriginal trivium, except the members looked even geekier. Its hard to take a band with those wannabe tough guy vocals seriously when your guitarist looks like McLovin from that Superbad movie. Evile Evile pretty much stole the show, simple as that. Everything about them was great. 3 Inches Of Blood They performed well, but their sound quality was dreadful. I couldve probably done a better job on the sound boards, to make the sound that bad, that sound guy either had to be deaf, or he had a personal grudge against the band. You know its bad when the shitty local opening act has better sound quality than you. Still a good show though.

Well, survived another edition of Dutch Doom Days two days of pure no holds barred doom served up by 16 bands: Saturday from 2pm till midnight Faal FUcking brilliant and the best I have seen them play thus far. I think I am turning into a fanboy or something since I have seen them three times out of the four times they have ever played. But this great gig didn't come as a surprise. Lucas & I interviewed them after their show so besides the live report expect an interview with them as well. Beneath The Frozen Soil only saw the last couple of minutes due to the Faal interview. Better ask COllin what they were like. Wizards Of Doom with a guy from Saturnus in it but much more old school traditional doom. Entertaining good set. SubRosa Okay will stick to their cd instead. Live it was a shambles imo. And due to bass prrblems they had to cut the set short. Griftegard Fucking totally mindblowingly brilliant. And the vocalist made me feel like a skinny guy Great brilliant traditional doom which is musically a bit reminiscent of Warning. Mourning Dawn Really good and superior to their album. Jonathan/Marquis of Ataraxie/Funeralium/Bethlehem/Hyadningar did the vocals for this show and those were brilliantly sick as could be expected from him. The Lamp Of Thoth heavily NWOBHM influenced classic doom uplifting as can be with great sing-along moments such as "Hey you you motherfucking whore" Nice English lads and girl with a guitarplayer who couldn't part with the box of merch cd's it seemed. He was glued to it on Saturday after the show and USnday as well Isole Mindblowingly brilliant slab of Epic doom and they played ALL my personal favourites, hell yeah. Forgotten Tomb decently enough played black doom. But unfrotunately not too spectacular live. But that could also have to do with the drunken state I was in. The thing that was most out of place imo was that Herr Morbid was wearing a baseball cap. Sunday: Hooded Priest impossible for me to pass fair judgement on it cause I was still nursing my hangover. But talked to the vocalist on Saturday and also on SUnday and he was a nice guy who looks a bit like a physically bigger mad monk version of Messiah Marcolin. Ophis not original doom death but really well-executed, a nice live surprise. Fall Of The Idols good but not great, Prefer them on their albums. Faith I didn't like what I had heard of their stuff on myspace but here in the live setting they were great with the best vocalist of the day by far and with a violinist and keyfiddle player to boot. Great folky epic doom. Pantheist great band with a normal good performance. Worship utterly brilliant despairing gig. One of the highlights of the weekend. Skepticism it truly amazes me how bass heavy they sound when they don't even have a bassplayer. A truly great funeral doom gig to end the weekend. Had a blast at the gig although I did feel like a foreigner in my own country with most people present not being able to speak a word of Dutch Of couorse had way too much to drink over the two days and spend way too much on cd's (check out the recently acquired thread) Collin and Lucas also really enjoyed themselves and I think Arutha did too. So although there were about 300 (I think) people present we still had 4 MSers present, And this gig once again showed that the people in the Dutch doom scene all know each other more or less. Bumped into a lot of acqaintances. That many that at times I was drinking from three glasses of beers simultaneously

Just like Marcel, Lucas and Collin the Dutch Doom Days for me as well. The only screw up was the hellish way back home on the night of 25 October. Because of that I missed most of the bands on 26 October, but I still enjoyed it immensely and probably will be present next year and better packed and prepared. Highlights: Isole, Pantheist - none of the bands were really bad to be honest only Faith and Worship couldn't impress me.
