Spider Crawl Technique??? Why have I not heard of this b4? What is it?

It looks like a spider crawling up a web its fucking cool but check this out. K when you play a certain arangement of chords specially in Thrash you have to lift your fingers alot. "or so people taught until Dave Mustaine" but with the spider riff you just jump over while keeping your other fingers in place. helps with timing and sounds alot more flowng too. but yeah he invented it and is used by everyone in Metal.

This isn't even a fair match. It's like putting Rick Allen in Morbid Angel. Megadeth is in a completely different realm than Metallica.

Compositionally speaking Megadeth easily wins. Metallica's best songs ever are half as good as Megadeth's best songs. Not to mention the sheer volume of great Megadeth songs outnumber their bad ones and outnumber Metallica's good ones.

Lyrically Megadeth wins again. I personally find that Dave Mustaine's lyrics have quite a bit of depth to them, something Metallica rarely achieved. Metallica's lyrics don't seem genuine.

On the subject of drumming, Lars Ulrich is a sorry excuse for a drummer. Even on Megadeth's So Far, So Good...So what? Chuck Behler still does much better than nincompoop Lars.

Megadeth rhythm guitar parts are much more interesting than Metallica's. They have better hooks, they're faster, they're heavier, they're funner to play, and most importantly MORE CREATIVE.

Speaking of guitar playing, Megadeth has had and always will have a better lead player than Kirk Hammet. If you don't believe this quit living under a rock and listen to some of Chris Poland's solo work. Jeff Young did awesome work on So Far, So Good...So What?. If you are deaf enough to not love Marty Friedman then it would do no good to explain about Cacaphony. Al Pitrelli who played with Megadeth on The World Needs a Hero used to play for The Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In your face Kirk. Lets see you get that gig. I think not.

Megadeth is just plain better band no matter which way you look at it. And yes, I am including Dave Mustaine being a better singer than James. Look up the word "original" in the dictionary if you do not see validity in this arguement. Case closed.

Because I have no life I actually went through this entire thing and tallied up which way people voted based on there arguments. When I did this I did not count people that voted for band X because "THEY F@$%ING RULE" I only counted people that put forward a real argument. Even if an argument that was put forward was wrong I still counted it. NOTE: people often restated themselves so I may have accidently counted the same person twice, but I tried my best to give it a "one man/women, one vote" treatment.

Anyway there were 75 people (roughly saying why they thought Megadeth was better and 49 people (roughly) saying why they thought Metallica was better. This shows a few things:
1. 72 people that voted for Mega. don't have a clue why they voted that way
2. 89 people that voted for Met. also don't know why they voted that way
3. Mega. voters seem to have thought about things more than Met. voters as more provided an opinion

But one thing I did note was that most Met. voters seemed to base judgment entirely on the 80's Met. releases. You just can't do that guys! the votes apply to the band in a general sense not to only certain albums! You can't just ignore some releases because it makes the band look shit and then you can't say that they are better! We are supposed to be objective.

At a conservative estimate a quater of the explained Met. votes were by people that wanted to pretend that the 90's and beyond never happened to Met.

49 x 1/4 = 12.25

49 - 12 = 37

So it can be seen that only 37 people that had a reason for voting for metallica did it on the band as a whole, not just what they did in the eighties.

this makes a more realistic poll of Meg:Met to be 75:37. so about two to one.

It seems that more than twice as many people had a reason to vote for Meg. than Met. and did so without ignoring albums. I do understand that some people also ignored Meg.s "Risk" album, but there were only a few of these people, so it makes a negligable effect on the modified ratio.

I have used the opinions expressed by everybody to show that Meg. is considered a better band at least by the people out there that voted without hiding from the bad part of things and actually had a good reason to vote for their band of choice.

Any vote that wasn't thought about should not be included and any vote that does not consider the band as a whole should not be included either.
P.S alot more than a quater voted for metallica because of their 80's stuff.

I voted Megadeth, as I find that the majority of Metallica's releases are just too boring for me, I tried to listen to Master and it didn't last any more than five minutes. The other day I gave Megadeth a spin, and I didn't feel the need to change CD for at least 15 minutes

'right, I'm voting for Megadeth, they get more play on my mp3 player/computer/stereo, since a) Their riffs are rarely boring or monotonous to the point that you wish you were listening to something else, unlike the majority of Metallica's works b) It's actually quite motivating and is appropriate to listen to when doing whatever you want and c) The lyrics are more thought provoking (as said, however, it's undeniable, Dave 'hit the nail on the head' with his choice of lyrics, although not something we drastically needed in Metal, it's always a nice addition).

I would never want to have to choose,

I've seen them both live and for me MegaDeth put on the better show, not to mention better songs. I find the lyrics of MegaDeth much deeper and socially relevant than Metallica, and the musicians better at every instrument.

Lol at long last Megadeth's finally winning this little poll. By the way, to anyone that says Dave's vocals suck, they dont . I'm guessing hardly anyone really adored Mustaines vocals the first time but they really do grow on you. Also, who ever said Megadeth had great lyrics? including politics in lyrics means nothing, if i want to hear the news i'll watch CNN (then again that may only apply to me because im 14 and i don't give a fudge about the news ).
Anyways a while ago I said Metallica had a slight edge over Megadeth but now im thinking they're both pretty equal. Megadeth has guitars, Metallica has bass, neither have better riffs then the other, it's just a matter of what types of riffs every individual likes, so everyone make a mental note to scratch one point off from Metallica .

I dont know, Megadeth live was freakin awesome, and Ive honestly heard no good things about the Metallica concert that was here a few years ago (St Anger tour I believe). And it was unanymous among both the people and the papers the Megadeth & Heaven & Hell was possibly the best metal show in our city in years.

Yeah, that is true, you really need to let Dave's voice grow on you. It took a long time for me to get used to him, but I think hes brilliant. He doesn't compare to James though.. I really like Megadeth, I have five or six of their albums, but for me Metallica is just better.

And to that guy who said that you have to count the 90's stuff in, I would like to ask.. Why? Yes, I like the 90's stuff, but it's not the reason I listen to Metallica. I don't think anyone listens to Metallica because of what they did in the 90's. So I would say that because of that it is right to say that you like Metallica more than Megadeth for what they did pre-Load. They are the best albums I have ever heard, and THATS why they win over Megadeth.
