JOPE OF STEELE
Steelemeister
You have to be a super weirdo freak if you end up listening to these records, especially in 2022; well, I am Jope of Steele and it's what I do but others will have to come up with their own excuses This is not too bad of a record tbh, the audio production sounds kind of not the best possible, but the music itself is making up for it.

At the end of the day it might be pointless to write anything here; it's not a popular release and people will reject it because of it, most people will never even know about it. When it comes to French heavy metal, this is one of the few ones and one of the good ones too, and it sounds different than their compatriots in Sortilège

I liked this album when I found it ten years ago. I was on 'some hidden gem' streak back then. I just come from listening to it in my car and I must my opinion changed a bit. It's still the stupid 4/4 metal album I recall, nice if you're enjoying some headbanging, but part from that it's hard to find any quality to this record. The production is bad, the singer is not terrible, most songs get boring after a couple of drum cycles with absolutely no effort on structure or melody. But it has some atmosphere at least.

I don't see the point of comparing it to other French metal bands though, first of all the lyrics are not in French, and I can think of plenty of bands more insteresting than this.

I would say it is not a lack of effort on melody; it is quite a melodic album I think. The problem for me is that there is not enough variation across the songs. Most songs are just plodding along monotonously. And yeah, atmosphere stands out. Decent album.
