I'll start by pasting my last message in the old thread:
I saw Behemoth, Kataklysm, Aborted and Lyfthrasyr on Sunday.
As I may write a report about this one, I won't say much. Just that Kataklysm, and above all Behemoth, were amazing. Really. Absolutely amazing. I've been blown away, even if it was the third time this year I was seeing Behemoth live (after the No Mercy fest and the Hellfest). But, as headliners, they are even better.
Ok, I'll just give you the setlists of the last two bands, for those who care
Setlist Kataklysm:
Like Angels (Weeping The Dark)
Let Them Burn
Ambassador Of Pain
The Resurrected
Crippled & Broken
Serenity In Fire
1999:6661:2000
Where The Enemy Sleeps...
Beyond Salvation
As I Slither
Face The Face Of War
Manipulator Of Souls
In Shadows And Dust
Setlist Behemoth:
Rome 64 C.E.
Slaying The Prophets Of Isa
Antichristian Phenomenon
Demigod
From The Pagan Vastlands
Prometherion
Conquer All
Christgrinding Avenue
Drum Solo
Slaves Shall Serve
As Above So Below
Summoning Of the Ancient Gods
Christians To The Lions
Decade Of Therion
Chant For Eschaton 2000
Encore:
I Got Erection (Turbonegro cover)
To reply to another post in the old thread, both bands played approximately 75 minutes.
Next to come is Enslaved and Keep Of Kalessin tomorrow

Poisonblack were much better live than on album IMO. They were definitely not as bad as I expected. Can't say I was impressed but at least I wasn't bored (but I really don't like that type of metal so maybe I'm not the best judge ). On the other hand, Fear My Thoughts sucked quite bad.

The Unholy Alliance in London(30, 31 oct 08) feat. Slayer, Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth. I don't want to talk about Trivium and Mastodon 'cause they both suck! I really enjoy Amon Amarth, Johan Hegg has a great presence on stage with his horn full of beer(I think). Good shows! Cheers man And now Slayer... In the 1st day they played the entire Reign In Blood album, need to say more? The 2nd day the setlist was different, playing songs from different albuns and a new one wich makes the next album promising. Overall it was 2 great days except the middle bands!

As I already posted in the corresponding thread, I saw Anathema with Demians yesterday. Demians were nice, kind of like Porcupine Tree with very long songs and nice vocals. As for Anathema, a little copy/paste from the other thread: Amazing show again, as always with Anathema! The funny thing is that they were so pleased with the audience that they played two extra songs they didn't play on this tour before. The show was supposed to end after Fragile Dreams but everyone kept screaming for ten minutes while the roadies started taking the instruments away, so the band came back (apparently according to Danny, Jamie was already under the shower lol). Vincent said "wait, we have no idea what we're going to play because this wasn't planned, but we'll do it anyway" and they played Inner Silence and Comfortably Numb. A brilliant ending! Oh, and the three new songs sound great, especially "A Simple Mistake"! Setlist: Intro (Parisienne Moonlight) Deep Closer Far Away Angels Walk Among Us A Simple Mistake Anyone, Anywhere Empty Judgement / Panic Shroud Of False Lost Control Regret Hope Temporary Peace Flying Are You There One Last Goodbye Angelica Sleepless Hindsight Fragile Dreams Encore (not planned by the band): Inner Silence Comfortably Numb

Went to see GWAR last weekend with my daughter...absolute blast with a sold out show. This being their 24th year an stage they were greeted with screaming fans. We managed to hold our space on the right hand side of the stage and even though we returned home covered in fake blood along with a variety of other colors it was worth it. Awesome show, great time and I'd definitely buy a ticket for their 25th Anniversary show.

Yesterday I went on Dark Tranquillity concert. The opening act Fear My Thoughts didn't brought me close to the stage...so, nothing special to mentioned. I was more focused to the follow-up band Poisonblack. Well this guys warm-up the whole croud pretty damn good. They have played for about 50 min, the whole set was great...maybe a couple of minutes more wouldn't hurt Anyway, it was worth of every second seeing them. At last, Dark Tranquillity showed up, and started with Treason Wall, than following with bunch of an old and new amazing staff (the whole set contained 18 songs if I'm not wrong). The whole crowd went crazy...in the hall was somwhere around 30/35 degrees (and I was wearing hoodie...dumbass )...However, despite the heat the band's performance was the whole 90 minutes on a top level. Man, my neck still hurts...anyway, this was definetly one of best concerts/performances live. Yea, Dark Tranquillity just cannot let you down.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra Amazing. I doubt I'd ever buy a TSO CD, but this show was incredible, not to mention it had the biggest laser/stage effect set-up I've ever seen. Mind blowingly undersold....

07.11.2008 - 18:37 Written by BloodTears on 07.11.2008 at 12:21 Yes, mastodon is great! I use to ignore such unreflected statements My last concert was Meshuggah in Moscow, and I was so glad they updated that gig, because I missed them in Vienna. Awesome performance - as usual. A good hour of full energy and high precision, and actually the crowd got them back on the stage for the first encore of the last 5 years - that's what Jens Kidman himself said, quite to apologise for the long waiting time.. Setlist: perpetual black second bleed the mouth licking, what you've bled stengah electric red suffer in truth rational gaze pravus straws pulled at random future breed machine + soul burn(!) Yet I was a bit disappointes, that there are just three songs from ObZen on the setlist, but, well, therefore they just kill you within 60 minutes!

The concert I was at was some shitty punk/hardcore/metalcore show here in Cornwall...the first band was a shitty 1-2-3 punk band called A Final Draw...their drummer didn't show up for the show so the guitarist took the drums and the bassist took the guitar...the band members were only around 18 years old...it was a very half-assed show from them... The second act was one of those metalcore bands with one of those vocalists who squels like a pig and you can't make out what the hell he is saying at all...they were called Mickey Mouse Massacre...the third band was a more well known band from here in Cornwall called Hail To Thee...they're hardcore too but whatever...that's pretty much all we have here... The fourth band was this Misfits cover band called The Walking Dead...that band was pretty much all hype...they had amps onstage with pictures on the speakers painted on that resembled that logo from the Misfits (the corpse painted dude...) they had a lot of spectacle...they all had corspe paint and tatooes and leather and what not and the vocalist was brought up onstage in a casket...anyway, the sound was terrible...

Saw Sahg and Satyricon live and well, I was expecting more from Sahg, disappointed actually, on stage they sounded like reincarnated GnR, somehow i could get that, Satyricon on the other hand was just awesome, the touring members have surely been carefully picked, really liked their part in the whole festival, the sound did it's part too, at times, it was just too horrible, the keyboards were kinda rough, otherwise an awesome show.

Couldn't be more awesome to see Lifelover's first show ever! It was a cool pub gig and they mostly played "Pulver" songs, which suits my taste perfectly.

Children Of Bodom last night in Hamburg. They had a surprisingly good opening band called the sorrow. They played mostly metalcore but had a few refreshing melodic death songs. One of the best openers I've seen in a long time. CoB played a solid show. They even played Bed Of Razors, which I don't recall ever seeing live. But the show was short. About 1:20, which was a little disappointing. Even worse was that about 80% of the audience was under 16 and behaved as such. We ended up with a bunch of older folks wearing Kreator shirts (bikers and such I guess from their looks) in one corner of the venue and managed to enjoy the performance nonetheless. Even though I'm not a big fan I always enjoy their shows. Short or not.

Sigur Rós, with opening act For A Minor Reflection. Both were amazing, here are a few lines on what happened. The gig took place in the Heineken Music Hall, or the HMH, which I had never seen before the gig. Turns out they have this balcony in the back, which has a perfect view on the stage, so we sat there. Front row, right in the middle. Couldn't be better. We (me and a friend and his brother) we're very thirsty so we got a couple of beers and chilled. For A Minor Reflection (icelandic melodic post-rock) blew us away from the very first seconds. Great band, these young Icelanders. They shifted between heavy and subtle without hesitation and were just very good. It was a promising beginning. Then it was time for Sigur Rós, who were without doubt even better. There shows are something spectacular, let me tell you that. The sound was loud but crystal clear and very overwhelming. Props to the pa. The song selection was great but that's pretty much a given with their discography. Some special things: they projected huge shadows of the drummer and the guitarist/vocalist on both walls on the side. Looked very cool. The light-show was also cool, very trippy at times. At the back of the stage they showed abstract/black and white/dreamy videos which matched the music. And just seeing the guy with his violin thing play his guitar with very spastic movements, very cool. Though all in all I mostly had my eyes closed, had the music overwhelm me and wash through me. Perfect liveshow, amazing liveband, great crowd. Awesome night.

20.11.2008 - 09:48 Written by Unconsecrated on 12.11.2008 at 14:15 Testament played almost 40 minutes, It was great but short, and Judas Priest played a lot of time I think almost 2 hours, they were great, new and old songs were great, that refreshing sound, dunno that was amazing. I would like to see a Testament full gig in the future, but like Varda said, this was a great year for concerts: Apocalyptica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Avantasia, Dimmu Borgir, Judas Priest and Testament. And this is just my first year attending gigs!!! muajaja.
