Yeah, that is true, you really need to let Dave's voice grow on you. It took a long time for me to get used to him, but I think hes brilliant. He doesn't compare to James though.. I really like Megadeth, I have five or six of their albums, but for me Metallica is just better.

That is true, it took me a long time to get used to his style. I liked one song, then it grew to liking to songs, then four, etc. Now I like a ton of his work!

The thing that I like about his vocals, is that he is incredibly unique compared to the rest. I really do not know how to explain it any further.

Metallica was good til after the Black Album. THen they went gay. Megadeth just put out a new album that was amazing... Both good bands, its hard to choose.... MEGADETH

very hard to choose, two of my favorite bands. The new album of megadeth is great, and they still rocking on stage, while the latest album of metallica is pure shit, and they forgett how to play on concerts:-|.... but anyway i have to choose Metallica, doesnt matter how gay and possers they are rigth now, we cant forget the old times, master of puppets, orion, fade to black, seek and destroy...

well i know how this comparison of who is better was brought to be..
its all back in the day where dave mustaine was kicked out of metallica
you know...
so.. am i suppose to determine who is better
instead i'd rather stick with choosing favorites
um. with that said
i would have to say alcoholica.

I vote Megadeth. Because Megadeth have more thrash metal.

ummmm..Megadeth or Metallica..there both great bands..Megadeths new cd rocked...and metallica newest cd was ok..if all in all..i would pick metallica:banger:

Metallica should absolutely have the lead.
The only thing that not is perfect in Metallica is the singing (at least in the latest albums)

Haha, I'd still say Megadeth is above Metallica with regards to vocals. Mind you, I must be an exception amongst the fans because I actually loved Mustaine's vocals right from the start

Metallica during the '80s I reckon were better. But '90s and beyond, I think Megadeth.

Megadeth are better live also...

Well I'm talking on skill level, I like Mustaine better, and in fact Hetfields voice is one of the first things that turned me off Metallica (which later expanded into many reasons). But you have to admit Mustaine doesnt have the greatest set of pipes. But I still think Mustaines vocals beat Hetfields, just not as much as the guitars, drums etc.

Metallia rules ! ... Megadeth it's also a good band, but Metallica has influenced a lo of bands, the only beeterthiung of Megadeth... maybe the images in the cover of albums .. lol

The only thing better about Megadeth is the album covers? Thats a laughable comment. I sincerly hope thats a joke. Merely from an objective point of view you cant tell me Metallicas discog is better than Megadeths (in its entirety, including new material).

It´s true that St. anger sucks, and the reason is that we´re talking about Metallica! they could do a better work!!
You can´t say metallica sucks without left back the whole Metallica history.
Megadeth is a great band! i really like it, is one of my favorite bands, all megadeth´s work have all my respect.
but i have to say... METALLICA

I think that Metallica has released some of the best albums, tho that stopped after the Black album release. But megadeth never really stopped doing great music, continuing through the years. Also james singing voice is one of the best around, Dave really showed what he could do on the "that one night in buenos" concert. I have never heard him sing so good like that time.
So I say that megadeth is and still will be my favourite band.

its interesting that the votes are realtively even after some 330 odd votes i would have fancied metallica on top, but i don't really like megadeth all that much...

I think there really well established bands and have both set alot of bars but at the end of the day metallica takes it

Bearing in mind the five fisrt albums by Metallica, i think that they can beat Megadeth

lol. The only defense Ive seen for Metallica is "The first four albums", well Ive got news for you, this isn't "80's metallica vs megadeth" its all around. People should really keep in mind the nose dive into the shit pool Metallica took after the black album (even the black album quality is debatable). Megadeth have a bit of consistency, sure there has been a decrease in quality, but to a smaller extent. they still have some enjoyable material.

Since Metallica is now catering to jam band festivals, it makes my decision a little tougher.
Megadeth has Gigantour, but the lineups are getting weaker.... hmmm.

Actually Megadeth has grown and become better than Metallica, since you put it that way; it's one thing to say you enjoy Metallica more than Megadeth, but to say they're better, that's just wrong. Simply look at their careers as a whole: Metallica were better in the 80s, but after that, Megadeth takes the lead. Metallica's selftitled album is the only great thing Metallica did in the 90s, Load was good but not great; Reload is a patchy album, Garage inc - did we need more covers? Megadeth's 90s albums were by far more consistent and more decent than anything Metallica did in this period; the only patchy album in 90s Megadeth is Risk (I for one like it though). Need I say anything about what Metallica did since 2000? a song for the Mission impossible ost - -I Disappear which actually was a good song- I thought they would be back with something really good - they gave us the disastrous St Anger. Megadeth put out three more than decent, really good albums since 2000. Therefore, in this poll, for me the winner is Megadeth.

the quality of the music is more important than the album sales, at least for me, that is what we're talking about here the musical offer of these two bands, right?
