Obviously not the best start into the 80's is this Judas Priest album, although it contains some of the bands classics such as 'Metal Gods', 'Breaking The Law' and 'Living After Midnight', but even these songs have seen better times especially as on stage performances.

Nearly all songs on 'British Steel' fail to bring up the metal feeling that the 70's stuff did. The faster the songs the poorer they are, maybe Priest were still tired of their world tour when they recorded this album saying: hey let's make something slower. You can consider it better looking at it as a rock album (with slight american influences regarding the style, which is really irony of fate when you look at the title) than as a metal album. As a rock album it is fun listening, but not at all times, you should at least be in the mood!

All idea about Warriors of Steel, bother of Steel, its like Conan who found black Steel and crushed manowar bride

This albun sounds as heavy metal in moder mening, on albuns before was so heavy unless 2 Sabbath albums. After this more n more bands start to sound hm, maybe whit out this there wo h be nwobhm, who knows where would Maiden be

First album with Dave Holland. And his drumming is one of the factors why I consider Priest 80's records are pretty much dead in the water from the start. His playing style is so numb and lacks any kind of feeling to give the songs something extra. Screaming and Defenders have great tracks but in pretty much all cases the songs sounds waaay better on live albums with Scott Travis or Halford solo.

British Steel is overall a boring and uninspiring album with some alright tunes. Pretty much never listen to this one.

I agree that it shouldn't be held up so high (I feel the same way about Number of the Beast), most of the time it's giving me Hard Rock when what I want is Metal but I guess bands have bills to pay too.

Breaking the Law is a fun singalong anthem and its video is hilariously daft but the true redeemer imo is Rapid Fire.

This is a somewhat disappointing album, most of the songs are uninteresting and a bit generic, except Breaking The Law and Metal Gods, The Rage, Steeler and maybe Living After Midnight and Grinder on a day when I'm in a good mood, besides Most songs sound better in the live versions, like Breaking The Law, which for me the live version is much better.
