Ok people, like the old one, this is the place to tell us your latest concert experiences!

I'll start by pasting my last message in the old thread:

I saw Behemoth, Kataklysm, Aborted and Lyfthrasyr on Sunday.

As I may write a report about this one, I won't say much. Just that Kataklysm, and above all Behemoth, were amazing. Really. Absolutely amazing. I've been blown away, even if it was the third time this year I was seeing Behemoth live (after the No Mercy fest and the Hellfest). But, as headliners, they are even better.

Ok, I'll just give you the setlists of the last two bands, for those who care
Setlist Kataklysm:
Like Angels (Weeping The Dark)
Let Them Burn
Ambassador Of Pain
The Resurrected
Crippled & Broken
Serenity In Fire
1999:6661:2000
Where The Enemy Sleeps...
Beyond Salvation
As I Slither
Face The Face Of War
Manipulator Of Souls
In Shadows And Dust

Setlist Behemoth:
Rome 64 C.E.
Slaying The Prophets Of Isa
Antichristian Phenomenon
Demigod
From The Pagan Vastlands
Prometherion
Conquer All
Christgrinding Avenue
Drum Solo
Slaves Shall Serve
As Above So Below
Summoning Of the Ancient Gods
Christians To The Lions
Decade Of Therion
Chant For Eschaton 2000

Encore:
I Got Erection (Turbonegro cover)

To reply to another post in the old thread, both bands played approximately 75 minutes.

Next to come is Enslaved and Keep Of Kalessin tomorrow

Winterfire Festival in Gießen. It was interesting, but it lacked something at the same time. I think Shining was not quite as 'into it' as usual or at least compared to the last time I saw them.

Endstille was pretty good as well, but the rest didn't interest me too much.

I have seen Saxon for the first time and it was a total blast. Iced Earth played pretty good as well (got the drummstick at the end of their show...yey ).

Just returned home from the show of Kreator, Caliban, Eluveitie and Emergency Gate in Hamburg.

Sadly, record companies seem to think that throwing at least one metalcore band into the lineup will increase sales or something. In our case there were two. I haven't decided about Emergency Gate yet because their show was pretty enjoyable and they had one or two nice songs but Caliban were just awful. They certainly had a great bunch of fans in place to ruthlessly injure other people in what they call moshing these days but they fit into the whole show like Immortal would at a techno festival. As for Eluveitie they played a set I enjoyed although I'm not particularly fond of the whole folk metal phenomenon. Interesting was the fact that two members of the band were incapacitated tonight and the two guitar players from Caliban were taking turns in replacing the missing guitar. That worked surprisingly well.

Kreator played their usual, awesome set. Everytime I've seen them in the past years they played more or less the same set, now of course including a few track off the new album. The guys were in a very good mood as it was the first german show on this tour and they really seemed to enjoy playing "home".

Kreator's set:

Intro
Hordes Of Chaos
Warcurse
Extreme Aggression
Phobia
Voices Of The Dead
Destroy What Destroys You
Pleasure To Kill
People Of The Lie
Coma Of Souls
Violent Revolution
Terrible Certainty
Betrayer
---
Amok Run
Riot Of Violence
Flag Of Hate

And you all know the last song. All in all a good 90 minutes full of energy and a few nice People around to sing along to songs with

I went to see Soulfly yesterday. Well the two opening bands (one Slovenian and Incite) wasn't realy worth of listening. However the headliners Soulfly, with Max Cavalera infront, realy made the show going crazy. If the listening to their music on mp3 or iPod doesn't sound so special, than their live performance and songs realy kick some ass Everything was going on...moshpits, jumping, srcreaming, constant headbanging and so on.

Well, I have to admitt that this was one crazy brazilian Soulfly night Hope to see them soon in the near future.

Last concert was in January when I saw Metallica. Good show, although the crowd was kind of dumb. With any luck I'll see Kreator and Exodus in early April. Should be a good thrash metal show.

Priest Feast last night.

It was totally worth it. I felt bad for Testament because I think they are a good band and when they played the sound wasn't particularly good and the people were still arriving at the venue. But they had a lot of people going there just to see them. I'm gona get The Formation of Damnation.

The majority was there to see Megadeth and Judas Priest. Most of those people weren't disappointed after the show, Megadeth actually surprised me, it was a very good setlist, very energetic concert, the crowd was amazing and overall I dare say they were the winners of the night.

I was there especially to see Priest and they delivered. It was a honour to be at this fiest, see great bands that hardly ever come to Portugal.
It was so great that they played "Between the hammer and the anvil" and "hell patrol" it was definitely the highlight of their show for me. I admit I went a bit crazy right there.

I knew it would be a big event to take place here in Lisbon, I'm disappointed it didn't sell out but you know what? I was there and I feel sorry for the people who stayed at home and missed it. The ones who were there enjoyed it and I think the crowd delivered as the bands, singing along every song.

I love going to shows, I had a lot of fun.

More shows will follow, hopefully Anathema in May.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that it was cool to see Broderick since he was a big part of Nevermore (now with Megadeth) and he was flawless, amazing player.

I agree that it was a good concert, but they could have played more songs that i liked *grins* I was VERY happy and surprised Megadeth played She-Wolf! I wasnt expecting it! It was the best moment in this concert for me!

Testament was ok (at least i liked better than when DragonForce opened for Iron Maiden xD), Megadeth ruled, and JP was a classic. They
played Between the Hammer and the Anvil, which was actually one of the only ones i knew. Nostradamus and Phophecy (first songs of their show) were really cool songs, i loved it Apart from that, i was expecting other classics such as Touch of Evil, Hellrider.

Im very glad i was in this concert, i might not have any other chance to watch MD and JP live ever again God knows when they will be back (if they ever will)

I saw Keep Of Kalessin, Legion Of The Damned, Obituary and Amon Amarth yesterday here in Innsbruck and it was awesome . Although Legion Of The Damned and Obituary aren't really bands that i like I have to admit that they know how to make a good show. Keep Of Kalessin was also pretty good and Amon Amarth was really amazing!

I saw Cult Of Luna last Saturday, supported by Destruction Inc. (nice) and Dysfunctional By Choice (a few genius moments totally ruined by lousy vocals and blatant Converge worship). I had missed Cult Of Luna three times already before this show so I was pretty happy to catch them and they didn't disappoint. The show was great, with awesome execution, and the lights were just perfect. A mesmerizing band on stage, really. The closing song "Ghost Trail" off the last album is certainly one of my most intense live experiences. I was even happy they didn't do encores since it would have ruined the awesomeness of the concert ending.

Then when we got out of the venue some guy gave me a flyer advertising a free show of Phazm in a bar 300 metres from my flat the day after, so I went there on Sunday. It was a lot of fun despite the crap sound. Apparently the band had a very bad experience the day before in Toulon (the singer told us it was their worst live memory from far but he didn't say what happened) and they just wanted to chill out and enjoy the night. So they played just for fun in front of about 50 people, which is not bad for a Sunday night and no advertising. Cool stuff. Plus the bar wasn't closed for the show so people kept coming in then fleeing out when they heard those screams and brutal riffs hehe.

Destruction 25 Year Anniversary Tour last night

Sword of Judgement
I had never heard of these guys before, but they're a great local thrash metal band with power metal guitar solos. They were the biggest surprise of the night by far and it was good to see such a positive response so early in the show. I haven't heard any of their recorded material, but they were great last night.

HMP
Besides Krisiun, HMP was the band I was going to see. Even though they didn't play my favorite song, All Hands on Deck, they still blew everyone away with their energy and stage presence. I still think they're one of the best thrash bands that no one knows about.

Mantic Ritual
I was unfamiliar with these guys prior to the show, but they were a nice surprise. The lead singer is a pretty funny dude and they were just way better than I expected. Their best songs were Black Metal (Venom cover), Executioner, and Panic.

Set:

01-Intro/One By One
02-Murder To Death
03-Black Metal (Venom Cover)
04-Souls
05-Panic
06-Thrashatonement
07-Next Attack

Krisiun
This was my second time seeing this band and they did not disappoint. The first song that they played wasn't that great, but everything else dominated. Some songs were Bloodcraft, Vicious Wrath, Slaying Steel, Combustion Inferno, some song from Conquerors of Armageddon, and a few more. They're still one of my favorite live bands.

Edit - I found a live set list online:

01-Ominous
02-Combustion Inferno
03-Vengeances Revelation
04-Vicious Wrath
05-Refusal
06-Hatred Inherit
07-Bloodcraft
08-Slaying Steel

Destruction
This was also my second time seeing these guys. At this point I was starving, starting to sober up, and tired as fuck, but I still had a good time. The only songs I remember them playing were Devolution, Bestial Invasion, Metal Discharge, Mad Butcher, Urge (The Greed Of Gain), The Butcher Strikes Back, Tormentor, Invincible Force, and many more (probably Curse the Gods and Total Desaster).

Edit - set list:

01-Intro/Soul Collector
02-Bestial Invasion
03-DEVOLUTION
04-Eternal Ban
05-Live Without Sense
06-Urge The Greed Of Gain
07-Metal Discharge
08-Death Trap
09-Thrash Til Death
10-Medley:Black Mass/Antichrist/Release From Agony
11-Drum Solo
12-Tormentor
13-The Damned/Cracked Brain/Reject Emotion
14-The Butcher Strikes Back

Encores

15-Curse The Gods
16-Nailed To The Cross
17-Mad Butcher
18-Total Desaster

At least one of those songs were substituted with Invincible Force though.

The Philosopher
I went and saw Carcass Wednesday and was arguably the best show I've ever been to. I met one of the opening bands, they were local but they played an interesting mix of old school Death/Thrash metal. They were like Kreator meets Death. They're called Cynosis, in case anyone wants to check em out.

The other bands there kind of blew. The first band was so shitty that I fell asleep, can't remember their name....Suicide Silence was there, and all I have to say to that is this; *gesture of masturbation.* However, Samael was there and they did a fucking awsome job. Carcass though, that was what I was waiting for. They played almost all the songs from Necrotism, and they also played a lot from heartwork. I was only inches away from Michael Ammot and Bill Steer, and I was tearing up the fucking Mosh Pit. Overall, it was amazing.

I saw Iron Maiden the day before yesterday. It was great to hear all those good old songs along with 60.000 people... I was exhausted at the end.

Now is when these big bands begin to look to the third world, after they ignored us in the glory years it is the only place in which they can still do really massive concerts.

Morbid Angel
I saw them like 3 weeks ago, it was unbelievable, the chilean crowd goes insane with Morbid Angel, they're one of the few bands that we worship and go to every concert even when they havent release nothing new, they really showed us why they're the godfathers of death metal, their performance was flawless, the setlist was awesome. I ended up with neck problems the day after but it was all worth it

Iron Maiden
Last sunday. The biggest metal concert in the chilean history and I was there!!!. Like Southern Wind said, it was like 60 thousand people and I was 10 meters from the stage. The scenery was amazing, they used fireworks in a few songs, the big Eddie (the one that's like fifteen meters height), the small Eddie (five meters height) and the Satan figure on The Number of The Beast. We knew the setlist along time ago so we knew which songs they were going to play but we were ok with that. For me the best songs were Wratchild, Children of the Damned, Phantom of the Opera, Wasted Years, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Powerslave, Hollowed be thy Name, The Evil that Men Do and Sanctuary. Now I feel like I can die happily, my dream has come true
