---- "Scream for me Melbourne!!!!" - Bruce Dickinson "I don't see any god up here" - Yuri Gagarin (while in orbit, 1961)

I was saying my fav band's name (Agalloch) wrong for years...till i saw an interview of the band. i had been saying "uh-GAW-lick" with the emphasis on the 2nd syllable when it is actually pronounced "AG-uh-lock" with the emphasis on the 1st syllable....needless to say i felt pretty stupid for a couple days

Got a question =) how do you say judas priest? it's not a joke, since here in italy i hear 2 versions! someone says it with the i sound (like i'm) and someone like, for example, list I was pretty sure that the second one is the right one, but i heard it on the radio so i'm pretty confused now as for Sarcofago, since it's brazilian i guess that the pronunciation is the same as in italian so like this http://translate.google.it/#en|it|sarcofago (click near the word to hear it) and also, how do you say yngwie malmsteen?

I've always pronounced Yngwie as Ing-vey Malm-steen. At least that's how I thought people say it in interviews and such.

Account deleted Written by neb on 07.07.2010 at 16:13 Gilbert would be like in garden, not the "J" sound in geography. As for Yngwie you're best ignoring what I said, I don't actually know =p I always said it with a hard sounding G but looking at it it probably isn't and the W may well indeed be pronounced with a V sound.

Ask an Italian to pronounce Iron Maiden or Judas Priest...the first comes out something like "Eeron Myden" and the latter "Geeudass Praisst"...I used to spend hours laughing at those older kids (bloody bullies actually) who were part of this metal crowd I used to hang out with! They'd be forever trying to look all tough and mighty, and then trip over some band name they couldn't say to save their lives, and away goes Krys, rolling on the floor with laughter!

08.07.2010 - 01:47 Written by neb on 08.07.2010 at 01:39 I'm serious! English speaking people pronounce "I" as an "open" vowel, Italian's naturally pronounce it "ee", so that's how you get "Eeron". Something similar happens with Maiden; the "I" becomes an "ee" sound. So there you have it, Eeron Myden...apparently we've had wrong all this time...someone should inform Bruce, I imagine...
