Perhaps I have heard too much. I have listened to many forms of progressive metal over the years and been stunned by a fair amount of it, I can easily say that Black Crown Initiate has an acoustic sound that is just different enough to be unique to them and that it is one of the highlights of their music. I can also say that their choruses are enjoyable and entirely worth hearing. So where does this album fall short? Djent. Bloody djent.

Loved it through and through. Musically, it's midway between Talanas and newer The Faceless with techy/melody parts interspersed.

A step down from their previous EP, but still an enjoyable listen.

Well, I'm quite surprised ny this album! I consider this one to be much better than the pathetic melodic death albums from the chart!

I don't think I'll ever understand people's taste in music sometimes. This is really uninspired stuff with really poor sound.

The djent riffing and subpar clean vocals completely killed this for me

Decent album I suppose. Nothing special. Kind of boring. Best song: This Human Lie Manifest. The EP was much better.

Kickass. Not often do melodies with clean vocals merge gracefully with death parts. Track 09 - Purge - beautiful, creative, minimalistic.
Début of the Year '14 for me.

Much agree - The Faceless reference with respect to that!

Djent riffing? Fascinating. Must have taken a while to fish out something so sparingly used, maybe for a lack of better reasons to criticize thereof.

Or maybe because it was just that abrasive it managed to kill any flow the album may have previously maintained. Even without the djent-shit and shitty cleans, I still would have only given this album a 6 at most. Nothing even remotely progressive about this, and in fact, everything present on this album is just a watered down rehash of the same formula that all generic death metal bands have been using (excluding the djent stuff) for the past 8 years or so.

Okay now this puts your previous remark in a much needed context. Thank you for clarifying. Since the rest are pretty much opinions, it is futile to debate on so I'll just disagree.

High Fist Prog
Tight instrumentation which proves enjoyable for the most part. Nothing worth spamming the repeat button over...at least not when you have a massive collection.

``Wreckage of Stars`` is not as good as it used to be when i first heard it in 2014. Back then i was impressed. I used to enjoy clean vocals the most & now they just seem mostly bland and uninspired. Sadly 1000+ new album listening experience since then refined my taste and put things into perspective. Sure this album is quite good but it is nothing special anymore. 8 out of 10 seems rather adequate. I have heard better since 2014.
