What a line-up. A gothic album masterminded by top quality melodeath musicians sounds interesting to me.

Part of me was thinking 'this sounds eerily like Dark Tranquillity's more gothic songs' - not particularly surprising that it does so when looking at the line-up (I can also hear some Amorphis in there from Kallio). Tbh I prefer it to Endtime Signals, which seems to tell me that my problem with that album doesn't (just) come down to there being more clean vocal-heavy songs on it

I really like this dark gothic rock approach, here I've heard Stenne make the best use of his clean vocals, there's some pleasant choruses, and the heavier guitar sections are generally pretty solid, but the Amorphis'ish keyboard melodies are what really makes it for me. Some songs are clearly better than others though, "The Coldest Heart", "Behind The Lie", and "When Silence Speaks" seem to be the 3 that stand out for me most, but there's nothing I find displeasing as such about the others. Overall, definitely prefer this to Endtime Signals.

I do like when Stanne sings in clean vocals. Most thing to me is that Vesa Ranta is active. First The Abbey, now this. Really since Sentenced still is one of my fav bands and I enjoy it sorta miss it and good memories and to be honest I wish Ville Laihiala do front this band, or find new international sortha suomi or gothic heavy project to front.
About music i would say 80s gothic cones back, many bands do it, well as factors I mentioned it has ups N downs, other wise ok album.

Are this and High Parasite's album similar? I felt so a couple of times listening to this.

Mostly this sounds like Dark Tranqullity's Gothic Ballad side.

Good production, but that's it for me. I get the feeling that they're trying too much to get a specific tone, mood, sound whatever. It feels familiar yet wrong to my ear, dunno, I can't really get into it.

Stanne's clean vocals are equally good like his other half. Great lineup of musicians and it can never fail.

I enjoyed the singles. I think they achieve what they're going for, and in isolation and small doses I could get into these songs. But when the album came out and I attempted to listen as a whole, I found it wasn't as enjoyable. Maybe too much of the same thing downgrades the experience? Probably needs more spins to rate it, but that was my first impression.

Impressive, pleasantly surprised how much i enjoyed this. All killer no filler album.

It just grew . amended rating to 9...
