Well, it's true isn't it?

Probably old school heavy metal. Honestly I probably could only write songs about getting drunk and easy women, rock n roll/being metal and such. I couldn't be black metal because I'm more cynical than angry, I couldn't be folk/viking metal because I'm a friggin Canadian of French/Irish descent, the whole viking thing would be out of my element. I'm not violent enough for death metal, and I'm not epic enough for power...I could possibly be thrash, but that could be tied with old school heavy metal.

Yeah I could easily say punk, because I do identify with a lot of punk, but alas the topic title does specifically state metal genre.

folk tinged black metal. On first appearances I'm harsh, unwelcoming and grim.. But when one takes the time to get to know me better, you can see I have flourishes of fun within.

Funny thing. I'd say the same - folk with hints of black - but for inverse reasons. When people meet me for the first time they may get the idea that I'm mostly fun and easy-going... But when they get to know me better, they realize there's a deep obscure side to me that I don't show very often, but that's there just the same, lurking...

...i'm not easy to understand...it takes alot of patience and time...plus, u have to see beyond whatever your 1st impression is...few understand the complexity and appreciate the real melody...
....many great death metal bands, have never had a big record company or promotion, they're hidden treasures, like me

I would be Folk Metal played by DragonForce. I love learning new languages and investigating history (i.e. Folk Metal), but when I start to talk faster than I can, I mess up and nobody understands a shit.

I Wish To Be Doom Because I See My Self In It

I would probably be thrash metal because sometime i can be really calm but sometimes i can be really energetic as well

Prog cuz i'm kinda nerdy and I like science/math etc. (check out After the Burial's "Pi" for an example)

but with a bit of death cuz I can be intense when need be, like sports and school

I would probably be progressive metal because I spend most of my time just thinking things over and make a psychological analysis for people's actions around me, but I could be doom metal as well since I am quite depressed at times, although I act as a positive thinker around people (power metal) I tend to feel miserable when alone...

Hmm, I would be Melodic Viking Black Death Metal. I'm ironic, totally into Norwegians, runes and vikings, generally I like music with nice melody, I'm quite.. hm, how can I say that.. brutal, and I'm learning martial arts + I'm not an optimist, although I make funny jokes and love to laugh.
AND the most important - I'm evil.

What genre? the genre would have to reflect who I am both on the inside and outside.

I'd be or would like to be Progressive Viking Black Metal. I like to brood and think to myself a lot so that's why I picked Black Metal. When I think I take my time on subjects important to me and Progressive Metal helps set a tone and drag out the feelings I have while in deep thought and while listening to music. Viking Metal on the other hand can help create a great epic and lighthearted feeling which I try to express most of the time outwardly.

Something between heavy metal and viking/pagan/folk, with some influencies of death/thrash/black/goth... a huge confusion basicly
